All I'm thinking, all I know is
That I hope you knock on my door
Nervous energy
My heart rate rises higher, higher up
The room was draped in hues of soft pink, one thousand balloons floating lazily against the ceiling, casting diffused shadows over the dimly lit space. The bass of the music throbbed in Taesan's chest, a steady pulse that mirrored the anticipation coiling in his stomach. The DJ spun Leehan's favorite tunes, the ones he used to hum under his breath without realizing Taesan was listening.
But Leehan wasn't here.
Taesan's fingers curled around the edge of a crystal glass, the champagne within barely touched. His gaze flickered to the towering cake at the center of the room—birthday cake in August, even though Leehan was born on the 20th of November. A detail so minor, so insignificant, yet Taesan had fixated on it as if his love could rewrite time itself.
Because he only threw this party for Leehan.
His jaw clenched as he checked his phone again. No missed calls, no messages. Just the faint reflection of his own frustrated expression staring back at him. He'd called, left voicemails, sent texts. But Leehan's phone kept ringing. And ringing. And ringing.
Taesan leaned against the window, the city lights blinking like scattered fireflies. His heartbeat picked up when the door creaked open, but the breath he had been holding deflated when it wasn't the person he wanted. He knew what he was waiting for—who he was waiting for—but it seemed like he was the only one still holding on.
A scoff left his lips as he tipped the champagne back, the burn doing little to quell the ache inside. His friends were here, the music was perfect, the atmosphere electric—but none of it mattered. Not without Leehan.
He imagined Leehan walking in, those dark eyes scanning the room, stopping only when they found Taesan. The fantasy alone was enough to tighten his grip on the glass.
"I was hoping you would come through," Taesan muttered under his breath, voice barely audible over the music. "It's true, it's true."
His patience frayed as the night dragged on, the anticipation morphing into something sharper, darker. If Leehan wasn't going to come, then Taesan was going to find him.
He left the party without a word, the cool air of the night hitting his flushed skin as he pulled out his phone once more. He dialed the number again, this time with a purpose that brooked no refusal.
The call connected on the fourth ring. "Taesan?"
"You're not here." His voice was calm, but there was an undercurrent of something dangerous. "Why?"
Leehan hesitated. "I didn't think—"
"Don't finish that sentence." Taesan exhaled sharply, raking a hand through his hair. "I threw this party for you. Everything—every single damn thing—was for you."
Silence stretched between them, thick and charged.
"Come to my party," Taesan said, his voice dipping lower, the command barely more than a growl. "Come to me."
There was another pause, and then: "I'll be there."
Taesan smirked, his frustration melting into something else entirely. Something wicked.
"Good."
—
The moment Leehan stepped through the door, Taesan was there. Eyes dark, posture predatory, he didn't give Leehan a chance to speak before gripping his wrist and pulling him through the crowd.
The bass of the music pounded in time with Leehan's racing heart. He barely registered the pink balloons, the champagne, the fact that everyone was watching them as Taesan lead him to another room. All he could focus on was Taesan, the way his fingers burned against his skin, the unrelenting way he led him to a quieter part of the penthouse.
"I don't know what you were waiting for," Taesan murmured, pressing Leehan against the nearest surface, voice thick with something intoxicating. "You know I've been waiting for you."
Leehan swallowed hard, his lips parting, but no words came out.
"If you saw my tears, would you touch me?" Taesan's breath ghosted against his ear, his fingers trailing down Leehan's arm. "Kiss me on the mouth, say you love me?"
Leehan shivered. "Taesan—"
"Would you leave a message, tell me you're sorry?" Taesan continued, his voice almost teasing. "Or would you just hit me right back?"
The air between them was suffocating, charged with something neither of them could ignore anymore.
"I only threw this party for you," Taesan whispered, his lips brushing against the shell of Leehan's ear. "And now that you're here..."
His fingers curled around Leehan's jaw, tilting his head up, forcing their gazes to lock. "I'm about to party on you."
Leehan's breath hitched. He barely had time to process the words before Taesan's lips crashed against his, stealing every protest, every thought, every ounce of hesitation. The world around them faded—there was only heat, only hands roaming, only the taste of champagne and something forbidden.
Taesan kissed him like he was claiming him, like he was sealing a promise. And Leehan? Leehan let himself be claimed.
Because this party had always been for him.
Taesan's hands trailed lower, pulling Leehan even closer, their bodies pressing together in a way that left no space between them. Leehan gasped into the kiss, his fingers tangling into Taesan's hair, trying to steady himself against the intensity unraveling between them. Taesan groaned, the sound vibrating against Leehan's lips as he deepened the kiss, pressing him harder against the cool surface behind them.
"You should've come sooner," Taesan murmured against Leehan's lips, his voice thick with hunger. "You made me wait too long."
Leehan let out a breathy laugh, the sound melting into a moan as Taesan's lips trailed down the curve of his jaw, his teeth grazing just enough to send a shiver down his spine. "I'm here now," Leehan managed, his voice barely more than a whisper.
Taesan's fingers traced the hem of Leehan's shirt, his touch featherlight but deliberate. In one swift motion, he pulled it over Leehan's head and let it fall to the floor, forgotten. The sight of Leehan's breathless expression, flushed skin, and bare torso had Taesan's pulse roaring in his ears.
Taesan smirked, eyes dark as he whispered, "Now, let's see how much of this party you can handle."
