Chapter 39: One, two, three people down

A/N: Hey guys I am now out of hospital and slowly adjusting so I want to thank you all for your patience and kind words. I'll be continuing to update but it might just take me a little longer to write the chapters now but I hope you can continue to be patient and enjoy reading what I do post.

Everyone was rather annoyed at how the scenes had ended, or at least that was the feeling that Hikaru was getting from the yelling, screaming and swearing.

"There isn't anything that we can do about the break so we should just wait until the next scene starts," Ubyashiki spoke up and most of the Hashira's calmed down, some of them were still glaring and twitching with anger but they had at least stopped yelling.

"We have no idea how long we are going to be here so we should use our time wisely," Himejima pointed out.

"In that case, Giyuu let's go and train together," Uzui grinned as he got up.

"You'll need someone to fight against so why do I join you?" Rengoku questioned.

"Shouldn't there be two?" Giyuu questioned.

"Then how about if Hikaru partners up with you Rengoku?" Tanjiro suggested.

"Why me? Wouldn't one of the other hashira's be better?" Hikaru asked.

"Actually I think it would be a good idea, I don't mind," Rengoku said.

"We could all pair up and train," Kanroji grinned.

"In that case why don't you pair up with Obanai," Shinobu smiled. Everyone that had caught onto the crush between the love hashira and snake hashira exchanged grins as  both of them blushed.

"You-" Obanai started to hiss.

"I-I wouldn't mind," Kanroji had both of her hands on her cheeks as she blushed and glanced at Obanai out of the corner of his eyes.

"That's fine I guess," Obanai wouldn't meet anyone's eyes. Everyone decided to split off in groups of twos or by themselves to train. There were some pairs some people expected, Shinobu and Kanao, and Zenitsu and Inosuke for instance but others such as Muichirou and Tanjiro, and Sanemi and Genya weren't exactly expected. Everyone was waiting for an explosion of anger from Sanemi towards Genya but it seemed that wasn't going to happen. Sure there was some glaring and Sanemi was yelling at his brother but most of it was actually advice if you looked under the shouts, cursing and threats.

"Right let's get this spar started," Uzui looked ready and raring to go.

"Are you really sure that you want to team up with me? There is no way that I can actually win against either Giyuu or Uzui," Hikaru pointed out.

"We aren't trying to win or lose, we are trying to figure out how to fight together," Rengoku explained.

"In that case should I fight defensively?" Hikaru asked.

"No, I think I'd like to fight defensively if you don't mind. Flame breathing is really offensive. As you've seen I can use it defensively as all demon slayers can do no matter the breathing style but I haven't trained to be defensive," Rengoku said.

"In that case, I'll go against Uzui if you don't mind and you can handle Giyuu but if something happens and we are struggling we can tag out," Hikaru suggested.

"Are you sure? I know a lot of Uzui's techniques," Rengoku pointed out.

"And I know most of Giyuu's, just seeing how he is standing I would be able to figure out which technique he is using which is something I learnt by having them directed at me from Sabito," Hikaru smiled, he wondered if Rengoku would realize what he was getting at.
