(Happy Holidays!)
"James?" Angel responded, somewhat shocked. James was dead, wasn't he? Angel had saw him get ripped in half by Mommy Long Legs themself.
James had saved their life, and many of the other employees lives.
"Of course, dude! Who else would it be?" James replied.
Before Angel knew what they were doing they had jumped up and trapped James in a bone breaking hug.
James slightly grunted and pat Angel on the back, chuckling nervously.
"You okay? You normally don't hug me out of the blue like this..." James said the last part under his breath. Almost as if it was a secret.
"I'm so much better now." Angel said, their speech muffled because their face was still buried in James' chest.
Angel slightly got confused once they said that, what had happened before? Why was that even a question...? Whatever, it didn't matter.
Plus, James smelled like raspberries. Angel's favorite smell.
"Now? Then what happened before?" James was yet concerned.
Angel let go of James, wiping a few tears out of their eyes and softly sniffling. They smiled at James, trying not to cry again. Wait, why-?
Poor James would have a heart attack if they did. Angel knew him too well at this point.
"Nothing important. Just work." I think... Angel found themself thinking. They ignored it.
"If you're sure, I trust you. Anyways, did you hear about that one orphan kid?" James replied, changing the subject.
"No, are they okay?"
"Not really...he apparently went missing a few weeks ago and yesterday was found with a bunch of bad burns on him, along with a grabpack."
"Oh god! What happened?" Angel's brain supplied them with the image of the small boy they had seen before.
"They think he must have activated the grabpack and electrocuted himself somehow. He's being sent to...become one of our friends now." James looked off to the side.
"How old was he?" Angel asked, after a moment of silence between the two. Though it wasn't completely silent as the room was filled with work related conversations and small beeping of machinery.
"Eight."
Angel winced. That poor kid must have been through hell, and now it was about to get worse for the boy.
"What was his name?" Angel continued, something made them want to know everything about this kid. But what was it?
As Angel thought a little more it slowly dawned on them that they couldn't remember anything that had happened to them before they saw James, how strange.
"I'm not sure. Though, no one would bat an eye if we went to look through the file." James said, though Angel was only half listening.
"Okay, let's do that! Hey, no reason, but what day is it?"
"Monday, an eventful one at that with the whole orphan kid thing." James responds, as he walks toward the filing room.
