(...I'm sorry.)

Catnap was immediately greeted with a cold stare as he walked into the room. He got down on his knees, looking at the ground.

The Prototype lounged on his throne, his red glowing eyes watching Catnap with a small bit of hatred.

The Prototype let out a sigh.

"Dear child, do you have something to tell me?"

Catnap bit his lip hard, trying to stop the tears that kept forming in his eyes. It didn't really work.

Instead his lip began to bleed, leaving a small trail of blood to run down his chin. He struggled as he tried to not cry out in pain and discomfort.

"Theodore, don't ignore me." The Prototype said, his voice harsh and judgmental.

Catnap took a deep breath, feeling nauseous.

"Sorry. I just- I'm sorry." Catnap apologized, shaking.

"You remember what I told you, correct?" The Prototype asked, with another sigh.

"Yes."

"Now what do you think will happen?" The Prototype tapped one of his claw like fingers against the arm of his throne.

The tapping sound made Catnap flinch, but he didn't dare make a sound.

"I- I don't know, but I swear of you give me one more chance-"  Catnap said, finally lifting his head to look at the Prototype.

"No. Your long overdue." He said, putting a hand out to stop the cat from talking further.

Catnap's ears flattened, his face scrunching with worry. He gulped before speaking again.

"W-what?"

"Catnap, go fetch one of your minis for me, will you?"

"Oh- of course!" Catnap immediately got up, rushing out the door.

He ran down the halls, looking for one of his minis. Eventually he found a mini Dogday wandering the halls along with a mini Catnap.

They both turned to him as he ran towards them, tilting their heads. Catnap dropped to his knees in front of them, panting.

"H-hey, little ones." Catnap greeted, smiling as best he could.

The minis waddled over to him, the minis crawling onto his lap and looking up at him.

Catnap gently hugged them, closing his eyes for a moment.

"Could one of you come with me for a short minute or two?" Catnap asked, once he had let them go.

The mini Dogday went to volunteer before the mini Catnap stepped in front of her. They shared a quick, hushed conversation. Catnap heard every word, he froze for a minute as his heart sank.

The mini Dogday nuzzled the other, and jumped off of Catnap's lap. Catnap smiled with unease, and picked the mini Catnap up as he rose to his feet.

Catnap swallowed and waved goodbye to the mini Dogday, before turning around with the other mini in his arms.

The little dog's tail slowly stopped wagging as she watch them walk away. Once they were gone from sight she sat down, already wanting for them to return.

Meanwhile, Catnap kept walking at a steady pace. With the mini Catnap in his arms curled up to rest.

Eventually, they reached the Prototype's lair. Catnap tapped the small creature softly, the mini stood up with a tiny yawn.

He pushed through the doors, and the Prototype immediately stared intensely at the small mini.

"Bring it here." He commanded.

Catnap tilted his head before walking up to the Prototype and handing him the creature. This was the closest Catnap had gotten to the Prototype in years.

"Step back." The Prototype said, shooing at him with his other claw like hand. The metal creaked in agony as he did.

Catnap did as he was told, and sank to his knees with his hands resting on his thighs. He never once took his eyes off of the mini.

"Theodore, for every leader I have a different consequence for them. With Huggy it was less food then he had, and with Mommy it was trapping her in the Game Station. I have thought endlessly this week about what yours would be if you did fail."

The Prototype paused. Catnap could hear his own heartbeat, and he had the strong feeling of air being forced out of his lungs despite him breathing normally.

"I know what yours will be now. I figured it out last night. You seem to have protective instincts for other creatures, especially ones that are smaller and weaker then you."

Catnap swallowed, his face scrunching in confusion and worry.

"The minis are one of these creatures. Just as the children were."

Catnap felt his heart stop for a second, before it quickly picked back up. Catnap looked to the floor, his brain putting the prices together.

An image Catnap never wanted to see. Catnap internally shook his head. The Prototype wouldn't- he wouldn't do that!

The Prototype grabbed the back legs of the mini in one hand and its face in another.

Catnap made a motion to get up, and grab the poor mini. The terrifying conclusion quickly seeming to become an unstoppable reality.

Though, the Prototype gave him a death glare, and Catnap tried to get his body to relax again. Though he felt like he was going to vomit.

The room seemed to be swirling around, making Catnap dizzier by the second.

"Say goodbye, Theo." The Prototype said, before he pulled his hands further apart in a quick motion.

The mini let out a squeak of pain, its front half which was now separated with its back flailing around.

Catnap gasped, putting his hands out. He fought himself, trying to stop his body from running over and grabbing the poor mini out of the Prototype's clutches.

"Stop! Your hurting her-" Catnap fell silent.

The minis squeaks came to a stop as the Prototype crushed the minis head with his large hand.

Blood oozed from the claws, and the Prototype flung the back half right in front Catnap before sending the head and upper half over as well.

The head slightly rolled from the force of being thrown. It was completely messed up, Catnap couldn't stitch it back together.

Tears welled up in his eyes, Catnap picked up the parts of the mini and hugging them as he began to sob.

He didn't care about what the Prototype thought of tears now.

"No, no, no, no!" He cried, the tears pouring down. The Prototype sat on his throne, a hint of a smile in his red dot-like eyes.

"Stop that awful sound, and grow up. This is what happens when you fail from now on. Don't disappoint me." The Prototype said, coldly.

Catnap didn't stop, he just completely ignored him. Until the Prototype got up screaming at him.

Catnap's irises turned to slits and he bolted out of the room, holding the minis torn up body in his arms.

He ran until he couldn't breathe, not looking where he was going at all.

He ran into a wall, his shoulder making a sickening snap as he collided with it. He slightly screamed, but he didn't make a move to check on it.

Instead, he sank to the ground, and curled up on the floor. The minis body protectively wrapped in his arms. Still sobbing.
