Oh, how the human hated that familiar monstrous form of a purple and blue body with thousands of legs, big eyes, a long tongue, and the snout and ears of a pug. Angel had hoped they would never see it again.
"Holy shit!" Hoppy shrieked, getting into a fighting stance. Poppy backed away, almost falling off of Kissy's shoulder in the process.
"I thought he was dead like the rest of the toys in the Game Station!" Poppy yelled. Bomb started growling, jumping in place on Hoppy's shoulder.
Dogday moved frantically for a second, moving to go for Angel, but then taking a half a step back.
"I'm getting real sick of these kind of surprises!" Angel said, pointing the flare gun at the caterpillar-like toy.
"What is happening?!" Crafty's shrill scream echoed through the hallway, making the pug turn to her.
The rest of the group recoiled, taking a step back. Kissy grabbed Crafty's shoulders and pulled her back, making the unicorn squeak in surprise.
"Everyone freeze!" Angel yelled, making the pug turn back to them. The glossy, unblinking eyes bearing into the humans soul.
"What? Are we playing by dinosaur rules or something?" Hoppy squealed, the pug now turning to her.
"And stop talking!" Angel said, the pug swung his head again. Angel gulped.
"So we just sit here until he attacks us?" Poppy whispered, clinging to Kissy's head. Angel was sure that the only thing keeping her from becoming a chew-toy was her place on the pink creatures shoulder.
"You have a better plan?" Angel counters, still pointing the flare gun at the toy. "Hey, what do you think will happen if I shoot him?"
"Do you have a death wish?"
"Why would I-"
"Everyone please stop fighting!" Dogday yelled, the pug turned to him. "I already hate that thing..." He whispered.
"Okay! No one move, and no one talk. Now, everyone brainstorm. Quietly!" Angel said, in a hushed voice.
It was silent for a while, with the caterpillar-pug panting and looking at everyone in the group. Almost like he was seizing them up. Which one would be easier to catch?
"I got it!" Poppy whispered, though the pug still snapped his head in her direction, "What if we just run on the count of three? It's simple, but it could work!"
"What about Angel? They're trapped." Dogday added, making the group look back to the ground to think.
"Maybe, but I might be able to go through the door. I could get out that way, while all of you run the other way." Angel replied.
"Wait, has he moved yet?" Crafty suddenly cut in. The group looked at each other.
"The pug? No?" Hoppy answered.
"Then maybe he's friendly?" Crafty suggested, smiling to herself. Angel looked like they were going to explode.
"He tried to kill me, and almost succeed." Angel deadpanned. Not to mention, that the game was rigged from the start.
"Oh, never mind then." Crafty sighed.
"He's waiting to attack, and when we least expect it, he'll pounce."
"This honestly reminds me of Catnap." Poppy mused, making Dogday's head snap in her direction.
"Well, he would always stalk you before he even revealed himself. This one just jumped in. So, I would say that it's very different." Hoppy said, keeping her eyes on the caterpillar.
"Do you know how long he would stalk you for before attacking?"
"Nope, he would just pop out of the shadows most of the time. Never saw him before he chose to make us see him."
"So, he's extremely stealthy?"
"What is your point?" Dogday cut in.
"All I'm saying is, what if Catnap has been with us the whole time?"
"What?!" Both Dogday and Angel screamed, making the pug perk up. Its glossy eyes slowly turned to Angel, and he began to drool. (That's weird-)
"I mean, it wouldn't be out of character from what Hoppy is saying, would it?" Poppy defended.
"Catnap couldn't walk. How do you expect him to stalk us?" Dogday said.
"Maybe he was pretending, in order to lower our guard."
"I cannot believe-"
"Guys stop auguring and help!" Angel suddenly screamed. The group turned their heads to look at Angel. They were now slowly being approached by the toy, the caterpillar body slithering towards them.
"Down boy!" Angel yelled, at the pug but the caterpillar only tilted its head while continuing to approach.
"Seriously, I really don't want to have to kill you too." Angel whispered, both Hoppy and Dogday's ears twitched.
"Angel?" Hoppy said. Angel briefly looked up at her as they began to back away from the toy.
"Can you jump?"
Angel paused, "What do you mean can I jump?"
"Are you good at jumping?" She sighed, "Listen, the bodies around the door could give you enough height to be able to climb onto the bars in the ceiling. Then, the pug wouldn't be able to get you."
"Are you sure? He's pretty good at climbing. Plus, you know he's not exactly mindless right?"
"Just do it before you die, idiot!" Hoppy yelled, throwing her arms out.
—————(Somewhere Else)————
"Dinner." Doey spat, throwing a piece of bread on the floor. Catnap barely glanced at it. Dark bags had begun to appear under his eyes.
"What? Is this not good enough for you?" Doey said, when noticing the cat's repeated behavior.
"I'm n-not hungry. S-Someone else c-c-can h-have it."
Doey raised an eyebrow, "You haven't eaten in days. It's obvious." He gestured to the cat's body, which was even bony-er than before.
"W-Why does t-t-that m-matter?" Catnap whispered, his eyes unfocused on the wall opposite of him. He pulled his leg closer to him, tugging on the chain. It made a small 'clink' sound, and Catnap rested his head against the wall.
The little mini's body in his arms had begun to stink, a small swarm of flys was circling around it and Catnap's tail kept lazily swatting at them with minimal effect.
"Do you not care whether you die or not?" Doey asked, the venom hesitantly disappearing from his voice.
"D-Do you c-care whether I d-d-die?"
"No. Not really." Then the door shut, leaving Catnap alone to rot in silence.
