What if Mary tries to shoot John and Mycroft jumps in front of him, and the bullet hits him right in the chest, and John drops down beside him and tries to stop the bleeding, frantically and saying
"Why did you do that WHY?" and Mycroft just looks up at John as he's dying and says
"He needs you more than he needs me." And then he's gone.
