"Let's talk about your fathers death."
You sat on the leather couch, right across from the professional therapist Ms. Lite, with almost a sour expression on your face at the mention of your father. You have been going to her the last few weeks, mostly because Bakugou had gave you an ultimatum about it. He wanted you to speak about your feelings even if that meant it wouldn't be to him.
He knew you needed someone professional, someone capable of helping you through these problems you have been facing for quite some time. He didn't want you to slip back into old habits, he wouldn't allow you to, this was the only way to get you to move forward and get better.
"Why do we need to talk about him?" You knew why, you just couldn't face the reality of talking about it just yet.
The last few weeks you've strictly talked about your drinking problem with a mixture of your mother's death and learning about how she had a secret quirk which was in fact almost identical to yours. You couldn't bring yourself to talk about your father's death or Bakugou's death or even Shigaraki's death. All of it was definitely traumatic for you.
That whole battle was.
It was a trigger.
"If you don't feel ready to, that's completely fine but at some point we need to dig into those roots and yank out the weeds that have been infecting your brain." She said metaphorically, pointing out that the trauma is the weeds you needed to get rid of.
"Yes, I know." You sigh deeply, staring at the glasses that sat on the bridge of her nose, her hair pulled up in a nice neat bun, her blue eyes full of concern.
"Let's start off simple, tell me a memory you have with your father that always pops in your head." She gave you a quick comforting smile, hoping to encourage you to speak just a little.
But you sat there, pondering on what to really say. Sure there were some good memories but your relationship with your father was strained for years after your mother's passing, all of those consisted of bad memories.
You huffed out a breath, your right leg beginning to bounce up and down as the anxiety started to build in your head on what to say.
"I don't know. There were so many bad ones after my mom and brother died. I can hardly remember the ones from when I was a kid." You admitted truthfully, seeing the concerned look flash across her face in an instant.
She nodded, setting her pen down on her notebook and straightening herself up some after she glanced over at the clock hanging on the white wall.
"I understand. Since time is up, I want to send you home with something to do. Try to think of those good memories and write them down, go back to those days and remember just how close you were with your family then. We'll talk more on that next week." She gave you a faint smile while taking her glasses off and neatly folding them up.
You nodded, standing up from the couch and heading for the door. You say a small goodbye and a thank you, walking out of her office and down the hall. You were slightly frustrated to do homework for a therapy session but you knew you had to do it eventually.
Once you stepped outside into the fresh spring air, you noticed the familiar car that is owned by Bakugou's mother, with him in the drivers seat, waiting for you at the regular time you always came out. When you got in the passenger seat, he gave you a big smile and leaned over to press a loving kiss to your cheek.
"How was it?" He asked, relieved to see some improvement but he knew deep down you had a very long way to go.
"It was alright. She gave me something to do at home." You grunted, glancing over at him with a plain look on your face, unamused and a little frustrated.
