It was a morning like any other, here in the heart of the Beorim Orphanage. The sun hung high in the sky, its warm rays of light filtering through the sheer curtains adorning every window. Every speck of dust sparkled like glitter in the sun, swept up by the slight breeze of an open door. The warm, enticing scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the air, like a wake up call to any residents who might have slept in.
But because it was not a morning like any other, Seulbi would not be able to eat the freshly baked bread she'd eaten every day for over ten years. A hum on her lips, she stared at her half gutted suitcase lying on her single bed, haphazardly folded clothes spilling from its entrails. There lied the entirety of her life, able to fit in a luggage half as small as herself. Her roommate, a young teenage girl who had only taken residence here a couple of years ago, watched her pack her things with an expectant look in her eyes. After all, she'd been promised any clothes Seulbi found did not fit her anymore. The thing was, Seulbi hadn't grown all that much in the last few years. Here, in this orphanage, she'd remained static like a photo in a frame.
She spun on her heels to take in the rest of the room, its walls still covered in posters of her favorite idols. Their confident smiles had always been a comforting sight at the end of the day, when she would lie down in bed (although her former roommate had often complained about their faces becoming scary in the dark). Those above her bed had long been dried of their vivid colors by the light of the sun, but Seulbi would never dare take them down. When SHINee had first debuted, they, and especially Minho, had been the highlight of her days, cheering her up when the loneliness was too heavy to bear. Even now, she liked to look at them, and remember those times, as bittersweet as they might be.
Peppered where she still had room were newer posters, of a certain Wonbin, her latest celebrity crush. Her lips pursed, she approached one, and pulled at one of the corners, already dreading having to fold its perfectly flat surface. Her roommate jumped on her feet, her eyes round as saucers.
"Oh, um, could you leave some posters here, maybe?" she asked timidly, her hands behind her back. "I kinda like them too."
Seulbi's hands stilled over the poster, and her mouth fell open. She had never been very discreet about her love for her idols, and liked to talk about them and their music to whoever might listen, even if they rolled their eyes and looked for any excuse to slip out. It seemed she'd succeeded in creating at least one new fan.
