Being friends with a rockstar came with its perks, Sara had found. Wonbin was set to perform at a large music festival in Nevada and, of course, he'd been given the permission to invite however many people as he wanted, to watch him perform there. Free tickets were hard to refuse, especially when they were in the VIP section, closer to the stage than she'd ever been. Sara wouldn’t have said it out loud, but she had to admit to herself she was a little excited.
Well, that excitement had dampened slightly when she'd asked Sangah to come along — as it turned out, some people did refuse free tickets. She'd cited not being in the mood as a reason to bail, though she hadn't elaborated on the cause for that. Of course, Sara hadn't pried. When Sangah would feel ready to talk, if she ever did, she'd be there to listen. They'd never liked to push each other for less savory details of their lives, and God knew they both had a truckload of those.
In any case, Sara had been determined not to let Sangah's absence sour her experience. As those who had accepted the invitation gathered in the lobby of the hotel, she looked around all their faces, looking for who she would spend the concert with. To no one's surprise, Seulbi had opted to attend, because of course she wouldn't miss her idol's performance! (She hadn't said as much out loud... But it was obvious enough.) Eunha had dragged Seunghan with her, along a woman Sara did not recognize, and she was not curious enough to ask. Solhwi had been a more surprising addition, although Sohee's presence with her might have explained it.
Just as the group was ready to go, Sara caught a glimpse of Sungchan in the corner of the room, watching them silently. A renewed energy in her step, she made her way to him, and didn't catch onto the way his eyes darted away from her.
"Oh, hey! Are you going to the festival too?" she asked, maybe a little too expectantly for her own taste. "We've got VIP passes, so I imagine it'll probably be better than the average concert."
After all, Sungchan didn't seem like one for that kind of scene. In fact, she hadn't expected to see him down here at all. But if he were to attend, maybe it wouldn't be so bad for her either.
Sara only realized something was wrong when no reply came. It wasn't common for Sungchan to leave a question unanswered, always eager to make conversation with just about anyone. But his lips remained firmly shut, and when he finally dared look up at her, his eyes were filled with something that made Sara flinch. It wasn't anger, it wasn't annoyance, it was just...Weird.
