Sihyeon's text had come in the middle of the night.

Solhwi had only seen it when she'd woken up in the morning, but the urgency in the woman's wording had been enough to shake her right awake. More information, she'd asked for. The name of a potential crooked judge had not done the trick. Now back in South Korea, Solhwi wasn't quite sure how she could even get close enough to Sohee to get any interesting intel out of him.

She'd still sent him a text, though, an hour before noon. Just to see.

The speed at which he'd replied had nearly given her whiplash. Even through texts, she'd felt the excitement in his words, and Solhwi had almost felt guilty. Almost, because that guilt had swiftly been overtaken by excitement of her own; she, too, wanted to see him. It hadn’t been long since they'd parted, going their separate ways from the private jet they'd had their Halloween party in, and yet... She'd felt his absence every day since.

At first, she'd thought a last minute invitation to eat together would be rejected, but Sohee had happily accepted to join her for lunch. She'd racked her brain to find the perfect spot, and had eventually settled on her favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant, singlehandedly manned by an old lady with a sometimes grumpy disposition. There were no more than three tables in the cramped room that served as a restaurant, far from the luxurious establishments they'd visited in Paris.

Sohee didn't seem to mind. As soon as his ordered dish had landed in front of him, his lips had stretched into a wide grin. He lifted his head to look at her, and Solhwi felt her grip on her chopsticks slip.

"Thank you for taking me here!" he exclaimed, before looking around to make sure he hadn't spoken too loud. They were the only ones in the restaurant. "This looks great."

"No problem."

She mustered up a smile of her own, trying to push the inkling of guilt down her stomach to make room for food. It was hard to ignore this little voice in her head, admonishing her for inviting him here, only to get information out of him. It was even harder to ignore the flutters in her chest, nudging her towards a conclusion she found even more daunting: she'd also missed him. A lot. A little too much.
