Sangah had been rather surprised when Seulbi had suddenly taken the lead of her plan — despite her occasional mischievous edge, the girl had always seemed like too much of a saint to indulge in any of her schemes. But Seulbi had very much resonated with one of Sangah's arguments, more than she'd expected. Playing a character seemed to entice her and, as was necessary to become a different person, she'd suggested buying clothes to better fit the part. There was a small, cozy thrift store she'd often frequented, which she insisted usually had luxury pieces for a fraction of the price. And so, everyone had followed Seulbi there, some more reluctantly than others.

It was no surprise that Yuhwa was dragging her feet, acutely aware of the envelope full of cash she'd tucked in the inside of her jacket. Those were their life savings, the only money they could count on to survive. Watching it be wasted was like torture.

"I really don't think we should be spending money on clothes right now..." she mumbled, her voice almost a whisper.

Only Sangah heard her — or, only Sangah dared to respond. "Hey, the people at the art auction won't take us seriously if we go there wearing these," she said, pointing to her own outfit, which seemed just fine to Yuhwa. "It's all about appearances, remember? Fake it 'til you make it. Well this is the fake part."

One thing was for sure, Yuhwa would never be convinced by Sangah, not like her other friends seemed to be. Even if, by some miracle, they were to find a couple of high-end pieces in that thrift store, she wasn't confident it would make much of a difference. The people there, if they were as rich and important as Sangah had made it sound, had been immersed in wealth and luxury since their birth. A Prada dress or a Moschino bag wouldn't fool them; they simply did not have the aura of someone of noble blood.

Well, maybe Sangah did. Seulbi and Vera too, in a way. They'd always been more fashionable than most. For the rest of them, this was a lost cause.

And yet, Yuhwa still followed, all the way into that thrift store. Maybe it was the excitement on Vera's face, or the uncommon confidence in Seulbi's step, or the curiosity in Solhwi's eyes. Being a buzzkill was never the greatest role to play, especially when it came to these girls.
