Who would have thought that, for someone who had always had her head metaphorically in the clouds, Solhwi would hate having it there in the literal sense? She had never been so happy to be back on land, both of her feet firmly planted into the ground. The hubbub of the airport passed her by as she dragged her feet through the large hall, her entire body heavy with a fatigue unlike any she'd felt before. Her sleep mask hung around her neck, having barely been any help during the flight. She hadn't been able to get even a wink of sleep, too focused on each little movement of the plane, even when no one else around was panicked.
She hadn't even been able to enjoy the high-end snacks the attendants always left on her table, or the comfortable bedding of her lay-flat seat. It had all been a little... Too much.
Whether it was because she was still dizzy, or because her friends worried she would lose her way in the airport, Vera had immediately grabbed onto Solhwi's arm, and was now all but dragging her catatonic self towards the large exit doors. Solhwi leaned on the younger's girl shoulder, her eyes half-closed to shield themselves from the bright lights above their heads.
"Come on, it wasn't that bad, right?" Vera said, in a far too cheerful tone.
"I thought I was going to die," Solhwi deadpanned, her grip on her suitcase meek. "I'm not sure I'll be able to take the plane back."
Solhwi could think of worse fates than ending up stuck in Beijing, but her wallet definitely couldn’t. She would, eventually, have to board that plane back to Seoul, and even the thought was frightening. This time, Solhwi really would ask for anesthesia.
Her eyes blurred and her mind foggy, she did not even notice that Sohee had slowed down his gait to fall into step with her, far more energetic than she was. It was only when he spoke up, that she flinched out of her daze, acutely aware of how much of a mess she looked like. Truth be told, she would have rather not talked to him while she was in that sorry state. Sohee didn't seem to mind.
"Hey, you okay?" he asked softly, a smile on his face she could barely make out. "You look a little pale."
"Yeah, I..." She took a breath, trying to smooth out the kinks in her shoulders. "I didn’t like the plane. I'm just glad to be back on land."
