There was no doubt about it: this neighborhood was nothing like Huamdong. As soon as they'd climbed out of their taxi and stepped into the streets of Gangnam, all of the girls had fallen dead silent. The large avenue, bathed in neon blue and flashes of cameras, was like an entirely new world. All of the buildings, far from the decrepit state of their jjokbang, rose high in the sky, blocking any stars that might have perserved through the light pollution and smog.

The stars weren't in the sky tonight; they were right there, gathering around a smaller, square-shaped building, its large electric blue neon sign towering above them. The Blue Siren. Jiung hadn’t lied, this was for the elite. Yuhwa could hardly pretend to be familiar with any celebrities of the moment, but every single person standing in line before the nightclub looked like they'd stepped right out of a magazine.

And here they were, dressed in thrifted clothes from past seasons, huddling together like a group of children on a school trip. They did not only feel out of place — they were out of place.

"Well..." Sara sighed, her face contorting in a grimace. "This looks like the place."

And yet, none of them seemed willing to approach it, as if it would burn them to even try. After all, the nightclub looked anything but welcoming, specifically because of its terrifyingly long line that spilled over onto the next sidewalk. The building looked far too small to accomodate such a large crowd — it had a bassement, didn’t it? It was the only way Yuhwa could imagine all those people fitting in there.

Who in the world was Shotaro? Had all these people been invited by him?

Sangah's groan nudged her out of her thoughts. "Are we seriously going to have to wait?"

"I don't see another option," Yuhwa huffed out, making her way towards the end of the line in slow, hesitant steps.

"But we were invited, weren't we?" Seulbi spoke up with a squeak, hurrying after her.

"Yes, and I don't think we're the only ones."

As grueling as the wait already felt, their little group certainly did not have the credentials to cut in line. They had to count their blessings; hopefully they wouldn’t be refused entry after waiting for what was sure to be an eternity.
