As soon as the sun had risen in the sky, Solhwi had been tasked with making their new place just a bit more comfortable. Yesterday night, the group had eaten cold kimchi for dinner and, while it wasn't the worst, they'd all agreed it would be much better to heat it up for the following meals. To that end, Solhwi aimed to buy a portable stove. It was not the professional kitchen she dreamed of but, at least, it would make cooking possible.

Eunha had offered to accompany her, though she'd let slip that she had her own errand to run. While the others were still asleep, the two of them dressed up, under the watchful eye of a half-awake Yuhwa.

"Be careful out there," she said in a groggy voice, sitting on the couch that served as her bed.

Solhwi simply nodded, while Eunha donned her usual intrepid smile, and the two opened the door, ready to leave. Despite the early hour, the elderly residents of the building seemed to be awake, specks of conversation resonating through the thinly insulated walls. Solhwi followed Eunha down the stairs, careful not to miss a single of its dangerously narrow steps. At last, they reached the front door, and the cool breeze of a nascent summer swelled Solhwi's lungs up. How liberating it felt, to finally be out of the box they called their apartment.

"Hey, Solhwi," Eunha spoke up as she turned to her, her hands nonchalantly shoved in the pockets of her jacket. "I'm thinking of stopping by the gym my friend works at to see if I can get a job there. You okay to go to the store alone?"

A moment passed, and Solhwi blinked. "Uh, sure."

"Cool. We'll join back up later."

And just like that, Eunha was gone, leaving Solhwi in the middle of the nearly empty parking lot. Although she'd explored many neighborhoods in search of new restaurants, Solhwi wasn't quite sure she knew her way around this part of town. If there was a convenience store nearby, she hadn't spotted it on their way here. A little exploration was in order — if anything, a breath of fresh air couldn't hurt.

It wasn't the nicest of neighborhoods, Solhwi found. It wasn't awful, and the streets were filled with old people more than delinquents, but it was obvious this wasn't the most coveted part of Seoul. As expected, trash cans were few and far between, but the rare ones were still overflowing with waste and garbage. The houses lining the streets seemed to compete for which would be in the worst state, exposed bricks and grime and moss climbing up their walls.
