I've been lurking 😌
Albeit, a very slow crawl, and still pretty low on reads, based on Wattpad standards, but it was kinda touching to see this still being read. I know that doesn't mean finished being read, but still. Although, interestingly, its sequel, "The Final War," jumped in about 20+ reads since this has been climbing over the past few weeks...So SOMEBODY must really like this story. 😆
I've been on a creative hiatus for a while now, but I just want to say, I think about these stories- especially the unfinished sequel- all the time. I'm constantly thinking of ideas and even re-telling parts of these stories in my head.
I'm older now. I have a full-time job. But am I still the same nerd at heart! I just haven't found the energy, "the spark," to pick up my pens again. I get random short bursts of creativity every now and then, but only enough to crunch out a poem; it's a different creative energy for me. Especially, since I have larger plans for this story...If you're still here, I hope you can stay tuned, and I hope I can find the will again.
I also want to give a big shoutout to the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies that have come in the past years. Of course, I saw them all 😁
I have to say, they achieved EXACTLY what I tried back when I started these stories oh so long ago: to tell a Sonic story that would appeal to fans and newcomers alike; and the recent movie, "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," KNOCKED IT out of the park- so much so, I've heard people who've never seen the first two enjoyed it even (in my opinion, I don't think that was a wise move, but who am I to judge?). Admittedly, they did create a small flicker of desire to get back into these, and how timely too for a third Milestone chapter to follow!
At some point, I have a plan to revisit these stories and give some really good editing, especially now that I'm older. I gotta say though, it's going to feel weird now: I always had a dream that this story would stand for something in the fanbase, but now it's just gonna feel like freeloading off the movies' successes 😅.
I know that won't be the intent though. I know well enough my stories pre-date the movies- doesn't mean I did it better (because heck no I didn't), but I'm still a loving fan, and I still feel like I haven't done my tribute to the franchise justice.
I look forward to seeing you all again someday. Thank you to everyone who got up to this point, I will be forever grateful. Take good care of yourself.
