Jiwon's apartment was small, almost minimalist. The bedroom doubled as her living space, with a bed and an old vanity table left behind by the previous tenant. Walang couch. Walang dining table. Walang mga gamit na nagpapakita ng comfort. It was utilitarian at best, but Jiwon didn't seem to mind.
"Maliit lang," Jiwon admitted. She was almost apologetic as she placed her bag on the vanity. "Walang furniture and appliances. Kama at vanity lang naiwan nung last tenant. Lilipat rin ako after this whole smiley face murder case."
He even moved to the windows, checked the locks, and even crouched down to inspect beneath the bed. His training kicked in instinctively-there wasn't room for mistake, especially not when it came to Jiwon.
Jiho straightened. He brushed his hands against his jeans. "Checking if there's anything off. Bugs, weak points, or traps."
Jiwon couldn't help but laugh. "Well, then, salamat sa presence. Magsho-shower lang ako," she said and grabbed a pair of comfortable clothes folded neatly inside her open suitcase. "Ikaw? Gusto mo bang maligo after? It was a long day. May damit ako dito. Unisex naman. Pwede kong ipahiram sa 'yo, if you want." She teased him with a playful smile.
Umiling si Jiho. "'Di na. May dala akong extra sa kotse. Kunin ko na lang."
"Suit yourself." Jiwon disappeared into the bathroom. And soon, the sound of running water filled the small space.
It was eerily quiet. The kind of silence that made every sound echo.
But then, he froze.
That unmistakable feeling crept up his spine-someone was watching him. His hand slowly moved to his holster, drawing his gun. He turned swiftly. Pointed the barrel in the direction of the feeling.
Ngunit walang tao.
