"im just saying i'd be going a whole month without seeing my kids and that ain't happening. i need my babies with me."
"taraji, the kids have school so they can't go. bryce is way too young. you can do this by yourself. you're gonna do this by yourself."
"why can't i do the community service here? why i gotta go all the way to texas?"
"do you want your case cleared or no?"
"yeah, but gran–"
"but nothing. get your things packed for tomorrow. ill be there to pick you up at eight am sharp."
i sighed, "alright."
"have a good rest of the day." she hung up.
my first week getting my son and i can't even spend the whole thing with him. im gonna get this over with so my case can be closed and i'm done. i'll be back in no time.
later that night, i was packed and ready to go. i called toya and tasha over to the house so i could tell them the news at once.
"aight, so, tomorrow morning i'm leaving to go to houston for a month of community service. any questions baby mamas?" both of them scrunched up their face at that word.
"why all the way there?" toya questioned with a confused expression on her face.
"i asked myself the same thing, but it's only a month. i wanna go on and get that out the way so my case can be closed."
"you're going by yourself?" tasia asked.
"well, yeah, i got to. before anybody decide to call me a deadbeat that's the reason i'll be gone."
"you know the kids aren't gonna take that lightly."
"yeah and that's why im gonna talk to win and autumn. i told them i wasnt gonna leave them again so i already know how autumn about to take it. winter too young to understand it all right now."
"talk to them. i do have to get to work, but i want you to have a safe flight and be on your best behavior down there. you got this." toya winked and rushed out.
i looked over at fantasia who was stuck. not one blink in sight. i snapped my fingers in her face, "tasia?"
"oh– um, yeah?"
"you good?"
"y-yeah, im good. you said a month, right?"
"yeah, why? wassup?"
"nothing i was just making sure i heard it right. what else do you have to do down there?"
"just community service."
"...okay, well... i hope the month goes by quickly because i– bryce is gonna miss you."
"i'll call him everyday until i leave."
"right. okay, you wanted to keep him until the morning and i do need to get going so safe travels and...yeah goodnight." she said goodbye to bryce and left. i called winter and autumn in from the backyard.
they rushed inside breathing hard, "yall had a time didn't you?" i laughed.
"yes, i almost broke my neck on the trampoline!" winter said excitedly.
"i– winter... yall come sit down i wanna talk to both of you."
"okay, about what?"
"well, do you guys remember when i was away?"
"yeah"
"i did something bad and there's consequences behind every bad thing a person does, right?"
"yeah"
