taraji h.

"ive been calling you. where the hell are you?!" toya yelled over the phone. me and bey was sitting in the airport awaiting toyas arrival. i ain't even know her ass was coming to pick me up anyway.

"outside of the airport. my kids with you?" the only faces i wanted to see right now was my babies. those text messages and calls concerned me a lot. they ain't never went days without talking to me– especially autumn so i felt like something was wrong.

"only winter."

"where bryce and autumn?"

"we'll talk when i get to you." i didn't have time for this suspense shit. i needed to know something now.

20 minutes of waiting she finally came. i grabbed my suitcase and headed towards the car when winter got out and ran to me.

"MAMA!"

"hey, princess!" i hugged her tight and left kisses on her head, "i missed you so much."

"i missed you too. im tired of mommy." she whispered the last part to me and i chuckled. i'm still confused as to why autumn and bryce not here. toya buckled win in while i put my bags in the back.

"are you driving?"

"yeah, you know im not finna let you drive me around like a passenger princess." i laughed and caught the keys before driving off, "did yall drive here or fly?"

"flew the jet. its at the facility you always park it at."

"bet. now, where my kids and how they doing?"

"how was community service?"

"it was aight until it got to the money part– stop tryna change the subject toya. if something happened tell me now."

"nothings wrong with them. they're fine."

"are you lying to me?"

"no."

"winter, where's autumn and bryce?" i knew winter wouldn't lie for toya.

"at home doing nothing."

"okay." i relaxed in my seat. i would believe winter over toya any day.

2 almost 3 hours later it was going on 9. i was pulling into the driveway of toyas house. i was completely exhausted– the jet was smooth, but i didn't get much sleep on that shit. i had to see my babies before i went to bed though. i took a sleeping winter out and put her on my shoulder.

"did you tell them i was coming?"

"no, because they're not here."

"where they at then? toya i don't– don't play with me right now."

"what? they're not." she walked up to the door and unlocked it.

"you gonna tell me where they a– SURPRISE!" once toya flicked the light on everybody stood there holding a huge sign that read "case closed!" they scared winter out her sleep.
