taraji h.

it's been a week of me doing community service. it ain't as bad as i thought it would be. i just hate the fact that these old pass folks with more than enough sense choose to litter when a trash can is always near. they had us dressing like prisoners up until we were finished. i been feening for a drink, but i ain't gon crack yet. water is more than enough for me.

we did have a meeting with my granny and the other crew in like a hour or so. the only thing is that, my granny has her husband's last name which is davis and thank God for that. i would've been in some real shit.

after we were done we went straight inside the corner store. i grabbed four bottles of water and left to go to my hotel. as soon as i stepped inside i stripped of all that shit and put it in a the clothing bin. i needed to wash anyway so i was gonna do that later today. i stayed in the shower for about 20-30 minutes making sure i was completely cleaned.

it was 12 pm so my kids weren't out of school. i called and checked on bryce while i did my braids. my face lit up when i saw him on my screen, "hey chunky boy! wassup tasia."

"hey"

"ma...ma" he pointed at the screen, but was looking at tasia. she smiled and shook her head yes.

"yes, that's mama. tell her hi." he just waved and picked up the phone speaking gibberish. i went along with it as if i understood.

"fantasia" i spoke whilst parting my hair.

"yes?"

"how you doing?"

"i thought the calls would only be about bryce."

"i'm just trying to see how you holding up. is that a bad thing?"

"no, but i'm gonna tell you i'm fine so it's no point in asking."

"why do you insist on making things di– actually, never mind. i hope you doing well. what did bryce do today?"

"he went to the water park and had a ball. made a friend whom he'll never see again." we chuckled, "and he's also been hanging out with his sisters. i know i could be a little boring so they basically light up his day."

"oh they all linked and didn't call me? wow, i feel left out now."

"you're always doing your community service. how long until you're back?"

"about five more weeks." she knew that.

"okay."

"anywho, ill check in on him before bed. i love you bryce. you have a good day tasia. later."

"you too. later." the meeting was at 1. in the meantime i ordered some food. i was starving like a bitch– i didn't want the hotel food so i ordered hot honey rub wings and seasoned fries. by the time i finished it was getting closer to 1. i washed my hands and changed clothes– i put on a simple black nike sweatsuit with my white air force ones. i scoped out my hair and didn't like the braids– i combed them out and put my hair in a high bun.

the establishment we was meeting at belonged to my grandparents so i already knew where we was going before the address was sent. she mentioned it would be a few special guests or some bullshit. i was just ready to get this over with so i could call my kids.

by the time i made it inside, people were still coming in. i went inside of the room and sat at the table. i couldn't make it known that i knew the judge so we just did a quick wave and that was that.

"aye what's this shit about?" debo asked me. i met him while we was on cleaning duty. cool guy.

"ion even know. im just as lost as you." 5 minutes later the seats were almost filled. we was just waiting on the two special guests. in the meantime they gave us all a envelope, but we couldn't open them until the guests arrived.
