-Freddie's POV-
It's already been a week since John went away to the rehabilitation center, maybe he was right, two months is too long without him. I stared outside the window at Roger and Brian's flat. I was just visiting them cuz they had problems of their own, they wanted me to come over for a bit. The blonde noticed me sulking at the window and approached me.
"Miss him already, yeah?", he asked. "Yes, and it's already been a week. I honestly hope he's doing well for himself, he's got this. I believe he's gonna come back better than ever!", I sighed. "How long is he going to be in there?" Rog asked concerned. "Two months." I answered. He stood there and nodded.
"Consider this like a little vacation away from him, he's needing time to think about how his alcoholism is affecting your relationship. Additionally, I understand that neither of us want him spiraling out of control with it.", he said.
"You're right, I just hope he's doing fine.", I huffed, then I saw him slowly back away from me, he looked a bit nervous.
"Uhm, Fred, did you ever think John is...cheating on you?", he quivered.
John? Cheating? What is he even thinking!
I froze at the thought, then whimpered in distress. "H-he wouldn’- I mean, he-" I stuttered out shakily, tears pooling in my eyes. "Obviously he wouldn't, but I'm just saying.", Rog comforted. “But why?? Why are you saying it if you don’t think it’ll happen?” I whimpered out, trying to stay calm. "I doubt that he is...he's still very trusted.", he urged trying to cheer me up, "It's just some possibility, but I still doubt it'd happen."
I pushed his hand off my shoulder visibly shaking and becoming frustrated. "I don't wanna think about that, what if he is?! What if he is cheating on me?!? How dare you think that, Roger!", I sobbed. "I-I'm sorry Fred, I didn't-" "Just shut up already!", I cried. With that, the blonde boy ran back to the bedroom.
-Roger's POV-
I ran back in the bedroom and shut the door behind me, my back against it as I slumped on the ground. "What happened?", Bri asked peering over his book. "I upset Freddie. I asked him if he ever thought John is cheating on him while he's away and he started getting mad at me.", I answer nervously. Bri just sighed and put his book down. "I'll go talk to him, but you ought to apologize to him as well. You disappointed him.", he informed me. He rose from the bed and went to go speak to Freddie. I remained in the room and placed my ear to the door to hear the convention.
-Brian's POV-
Freddie sat in the corner of the small living room, his fingers nervously twisting a piece of cloth. His eyes were dark, clouded with doubt. He had always trusted John, their love built on a foundation of laughter and mutual respect, but since Roger asked him that, he thought different. Freddie couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. He feared the worst.
I, noticing the tense silence, finally broke it. "Freddie," I said softly, voice steady, "I understand how upset you are."
Freddie looked up, eyes wide, "I don't even understand why Roger would ask something stupid like that. John has all my trust , I know he wouldn't commit infidelity!" His voice cracked, and he glanced away, wiping his face.
I sighed and sat down beside Freddie, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Freddie, listen to me. I know this has been hard, but I’m telling you right now, John isn’t cheating on you."
His eyes snapped back to me, disbelief etched on his face. "How can you be so sure?" I exhaled slowly, searching for the right words. "Because you know him, Freddie. You know John better than anyone else does. And I can see how much he loves you. The way he talks about you, the way he smiles when your name comes up — he’s devoted to you. Whatever's going on, it’s not about another person."
Freddie looked down, chewing his lip. "I shouldn't have signed him up for two months at that center." I shook my head. "Tell you what, how about we go visit him one day, from there we can prove he isn't cheating.", I suggested.
"But what if he is?" Freddie asked, his voice barely above a whisper. I squeezed his shoulder gently. "You’ve got to trust him. I know it’s hard, and I know the uncertainty is eating away at you. But don't jump to conclusions because Roger asked about it. He wouldn’t hurt you like that."
Freddie’s eyes filled with tears, his fear and confusion overwhelming him. "What if I’m wrong? What if I push him away because of my own insecurities?"
I smiled softly. "That’s what you’re scared of, right? But think about it this way — if you give in to your doubts now, if you let your mind wander to the worst possible outcome, you’ll be pushing him away before you even have the chance to find out the truth. Trust him. Have the conversation you’re so afraid of. Tell him what you’ve been feeling."
Fred hesitated, his mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Finally, he nodded, though he wasn’t fully convinced. "I just don’t know what I’ll do if I’m wrong."
I stood up, brushing off my pants. "You’ll deal with it, Freddie. Like you always do. You’re stronger than you think. And so is John. He’ll come around, but you need to trust him first. You have to be strong for him, like he's doing for you right now."
Freddie sat quietly for a moment, then whispered, "I hope you’re right."
"I know I am," I said, offering a supportive smile before turning to leave. "Stop letting this fester like a bad sore. It’s the only way forward."
I went back in the bedroom only to see Roger asleep, he must've fallen asleep. I chuckled quietly and got in the bed without making any other sudden moves. I wrapped my arm around him gently cuddling him close.
I hope Freddie is thinking about what I've explained to him about John cheating on him.
