-John's POV-

"Aww, looks like someone's finally cheering up!", I heard Jacob say. "I know, my partner Freddie came by for a visit. I knew he finally would!", I replied. "I wish I could've met him, but my partner Kedron kept me on the phone. He says he misses me.", Jacob ran his fingers through his short ginger hair. "How much? He didn't say?", I inquire. "I couldn't remember him telling me that, he's really waiting for me to come home, said he had a surprise for me. I told him to not fuck it up for me, that's all I want." Jacob sasses.

I nodded in agreement and chuckled, "I'm hoping the same for Freddie, but I'm not really expecting anything, especially for my birthday coming up."
"Your birthday, huh? When's that?", he asked. "It's in August, the 19th.", I replied. "My guy, that's literally next month. I'd say it's just around the corner, eh?" He took a sip of his coffee and just stared me down awkwardly. "Yeah, I'll be 20. Not really a big deal to me. Another day, another age." I huffed.

"Yeah but at least you're getting older and more mature. Listen John, your decision of becoming sober is an achievement! You should really be proud of yourself, for overcoming this hurdle.", Jacob was right though, I really should be grateful that I get to continue this rock journey with the love of my life. "You're right, Jacob.", I simply replied. "Hell yeah I am, care to join me outside? We do have a pool you know."

This could get more gay but we're just friends, I'm definitely not cheating on Freddie.

"Cool, we could go hang." I sighed. "Excellent, but let's go grab a bite at the cafeteria, I've only drank this coffee for a solid ten minutes and I haven't ate anything at all." Jacob grabbed my arm and took me to the cafeteria room.

-Freddie's POV-

Back at home, I was thinking about how we could celebrate Deaky's birthday, before that, I must celebrate him coming home from that facility. I feel like I should reward him with a spicy and saucy little gift. He might or might not like the fact of how much of a sex minx I really am. If he consents, I could give him a blowjob or even better, just fuck his brains out. Let's not rush to that though, maybe, just maybe, a small sobriety party could do. A small sobriety party will suffice because it'll allow us to show how much we appreciate him so much for being sober.

That's it!

Maybe the welcome home party can be the sobriety party. We can have little mock tails involved, which I'm an expert at making....and then I fuck him all night until he's had enough. Yeah.

"Have you given thought to what you want to do when John returns?", Roger asked coming up to me. "We should throw him a small sobriety celebration, just the four of us." I answered. "That's sounds like an excellent idea, Freddie. You know how to make mock tails still right?", the blonde inquired. “Yeah, blonide. I used to bartend a few years ago. I hate the smell of alcohol because of it. I’ve seen a lot lose their fight, but I'm proud of John for battling it out and not losing his…” Roger nodded in agreement and kinda turned away.

"What's going on Rog? Something with you and Brian again?", I asked, he nodded. "We fought again. We're not even on speaking terms. But I do know one thing, I can handle the quiet game for a little while. I know I can do this.", he replied shyly. I placed my hand on his shoulder, knowing what they're going through makes me a little sad for them. Besides, they're one of the most beautiful couples I've ever seen. "Don't worry, he'll open up eventually. Communication is key, in everything."

-John's POV-

It was after Jacob and I were in the pool where we had another meeting with Ms. Galveston, she gave us the most encouraging speech titled 'I Know I Can Do This!', which is about knowing that you're not battling you're addition alone. Her entire speech ran through my mind:

There comes a moment in every journey when doubt creeps in—when the mountain looks too high, the path too long, and the obstacles too great. But in that moment, when everything seems uncertain, there is one truth that can push us forward: I know I can do this.

These words aren’t just a mantra. They are a promise to ourselves. A declaration that no matter how many times we stumble, no matter how loud the world’s doubts become, we won’t back down. Because deep inside us lives a fire—a light that refuses to go out.

Think about everything you've already overcome. The late nights. The hard days. The moments when giving up seemed easier than pushing forward. But you didn’t stop. You got back up. You kept going. That strength, that courage—it’s still in you now.

You don’t need everything figured out. You don’t need to be perfect. What you need is belief. Belief that each step you take matters. That progress is built one choice at a time. That even if it’s hard, even if it hurts, you are capable.

You have something special inside you. A dream worth fighting for. A story still being written. And every chapter starts with this truth:

I know I can do this.

So when the voice of fear tries to speak louder than your hope, when failure tries to block your path, stand tall. Speak louder. And keep moving.

Because you were made for this. You were built for resilience, for growth, for victory.

Let the world watch as you rise.

And never forget…
I know I can do this.
And so do you.
