-John's POV-
I kept reminding myself to stay positive as Freddie and I were headed for our picnic with Brian and Roger. However, I can't shake the feeling that things might get a bit chaotic. Freddie knew all the shortcuts as we were walking because he was familiar with every bar and liquor store nearby. I thought it was funny that whenever I spotted one and tried to go in, he would grab my arm and pull me away, as if I were a puppy chasing a cat. At least he's trying to keep me away from everything alcoholic. "John, you should be resisting this by now!", he exclaimed as we shortcut another liquor store. "Oh c'mon, stop being such a square!", I giggled like a child, "Just at least one more drink!"
Freddie stopped us in his tracks. He took a deep breath and calmly turned to me, shit got serious. "Let me put this in terms you’ll understand. One more drink… and you risk losing everything. Your progress, your health — all of it gone in an instant. One more drink could send you right back to where you started, or worse. You could spiral. You could destroy what we have. The band, the trust, us. One more drink… and I don’t know if I’ll be able to stand by you anymore. And if you’re not careful… that one drink could be the last thing you ever have. Do you hear me, John Richard Deacon?!?"
All this yelling drew attention from the bystanders. They looked and then minded their own business moving along. I felt my cheeks flush red, deeply embarrassed by the scene to a point where I just wanted to go home and cry.
"Ye-yes, Freddie. Understood.", I whimpered. "Good. You seriously need to stop, you're gonna get worse if you don't! We gotta get going now or else we're going to be late.", he sighed and dragged me along.
We made it to the park minutes after that brief incident, Brian and Roger were sat on a huge blanket under a much bigger tree, along with a big basket beside the blonde. "Oh you made it, right on time!", Brian greeted. "Thanks for having us you two. This was a great idea for us to get together again as a band." Freddie replied.
-Roger's POV-
I peered up from my notepad and saw John's face a slight tomato red. "Uhm...what happened with John?", I ask. "I got yelled at apparently, people were watching and it was so embarrassing.", John muttered. "He received a little attitude adjustment after we shortcut a few bars and liquor stores He found it amusing that I kept yanking him away, but I've set him straight now..", Freddie reassured sitting on the blanket. He motioned the younger to do the same. "John, you know Brian and I care about you just as much as Freddie does, right?", I asked. "Of course I know that, Rog.", he sighed. "Then if you acknowledge it, stop trying to ruin your progress. Look at where you are, look at where you started. The fact that you're still alive is a miracle. Stay alive, John, that would be enough."
I sensed that the begging was stressed enough, I watched him turn away. "You're right, I'm lucky enough to still even be here.", he huffed. "Exactly.", I replied and got back to writing. "Apparently Roger has been coming up with future songs for our debut album, whenever we start working on it of course.", Brian explains passing out sandwiches. "I have so many ideas, I'm barely able to catch up on any. Fred said he was an artist, maybe he's able to draw us up a logo too." I chimed.
"Me? Draw a logo? Oh please, I barely remember how to draw a circle. But if I'm gonna do it, the logo must be something, well memorable and easily recognizable.", Freddie chirped. "Freddie, c'mon! You've shown me some incredible artwork you did in uni.", Brian bragged. "Alright alright, I'll draw it!", Fred chuckled. I continued my writing but Brian insisted I take a bite of my sandwich so it wouldn't go bad. I paused the writing and then took a couple bites before back to writing. "You know Rog, you should be able to pause that writing for a bit and just eat. Enjoy our company.", Bri hummed as he wrapped his lanky arms around me.
He's right though, I could stand a small cuddle.
-Freddie's POV-
I watched as the two snuggled close to each other, I peered back at John who still looked visibly shaken from my yelling. "Honey I'm sorry I yelled at you back there, but you understand that we're still here to support you.", I apologize. I pulled his arm in gently, hoping he'd at least cuddle up to me, and he did. Even if he was just being silly on the way here, he knows not to drink heavily anymore. I wanted him to feel the support surrounding him. "I...I'm sorry for attempting to go in some of those bars and stores.", I heard Deaky apologize. "Hey it's okay, no need to be hard on yourself, sweet pea.", I reassured him. I saw Brian hug his lover close as he hummed a sweet little melody softly to the blonde. "Aww, it looks like he's falling asleep already.", I cooed. "A little, he's just enjoying my company." Bri pecked a gentle kiss on Roger's forehead.
"By the way, that melody that you hummed earlier. Is there a way you can like write words to it? I really liked it.", I complimented. "Absolutely, I'm sure Rog doesn't mind me borrowing his notepad for a couple songs.", he replied. I chuckled softly and then out of nowhere, we heard this bloodcurdling scream nearby. "What the absolute hell was that?", John asked. "Sounded like a woman screaming. Wanna go investigate?", I commented, getting up from the blanket and picking up John. "Yeah, I hope it's nothing too serious.", he added.
-Brian's POV-
I watched as the couple ran away to find out where that scream came from, meanwhile, Roger seemed like he was asleep because I heard gentle snoring underneath me. "Babe, c'mon, I know better. You're not that sleepy, are you?", I quietly joked, but I was right, he was up in a split second. "Actually yes, Bri, I am that tired.", he uttered groggily. "I hate to say it, that's what you get from staying up late.", I teased him. "Whatever...", he groaned. He noticed that the other two were gone. "Hey, where's the other two?", he asked. "You didn't hear that scream? They went to go look.", I replied. Rog nodded as he reached back to his notepad, but I quickly swatted his hand away playfully. "You can write more at home, love. Let's just relax a little, okay?", I chuckled.
I allowed him to lay back on the blanket and resume his peaceful nap, I eventually laid beside him under the huge tree behind us.
I'm so glad we're working this out together.
