A Whole Month Later
-John's POV-
It's already been a whole month since I've been away from Freddie and the others. Have I improved? A little. We're there any changes? Well I've learned how to say no in fake scenarios with the addiction counselor Ms. Galveston and the other people currently struggling. I fear that I won't make it out if I continue thinking about that substance Freddie calls toxic and life ruining. Again, it's been a whole since I've been away from Freddie and...he didn't bother to visit me not once.
Why?
Well I've got a couple reasons I could think of. The first one is that he's too caught up with this new band deal. Who knows when we'll be able to play our next gig or even cut out first album? We're as poor as dirt at this time, but how was Freddie even able to afford this staycation for me? I don't even know.
The second reason makes me kinda sad. He simply doesn't care to even visit. Yes, even though we've talked on the phone a couple times, he didn't come by and see me physically.
Speaking of that
As thin as I already am, my body began detoxing all the alcohol I used to drink. It felt like it was destroying my self esteem about how I look on the outside. Every day whenever I looked into or even pass by a mirror, I look close to a skeleton, I felt as if I needed to gain just a little bit more weight without any problems. I felt so fragile, so skinny. I needed just a little weight gain, it wouldn't hurt. Of course, if Freddie saw me now, he'd say that I'm "looking good", but I don't believe him. I look like I'm about to pass out, even worse, famished and malnourished.
These thoughts swam in my head as I was still in bed after sobbing real hard last night, another terrible nightmare. I only went back to sleep for only two hours and again, was jolted by Jacob's loud music. My eyes we're heavy and tomato red, I wish I didn't cry so much last night.
Everything just hurts. My body. My mentality. My self esteem is at its worst.
I fell back asleep for a little while, until a couple more hours passed and I could've sworn there was a knock at my door. I got out of my bed and answered. To my surprise it was...Avery?
"Hi Mr. Deacon, it's been a minute since I last spoke to you.", she greeted warmly.
"Ms. Avery, what are you doing here? And yes, it has been a while.", I stammered. The woman chuckled. "I have someone up at front who would like to see you if you're willing to come with."
Could it be? Could today be the day I've hoped about?
"Sure I'll come. I just need a moment to get ready. Don't wanna keep them waiting.", I uttered. "No worries, they have so much patience. They'd rather wait all day for you. Just let me know whenever you're ready to come." Avery replies smiling, she shut the door, allowing me enough time to straighten myself up.
I really hoped he came just to see me, not to tear me apart. As I got ready, my mind ran through every possible way he might criticize me. Still, I tried not to let it sink in too deep. After getting dressed, I walked over to the door and checked to see if Avery was still there. The raven-haired woman remained in sight.
"Come along, John," she said, guiding me toward the front.
And there he stood, smiling at me. I ran over to him and gave him the biggest hug ever! "John! My baby! My goodness oh how I miss you so!", he coos in my ears. "I miss you so much too, Freddie! I'm so glad you're here, I knew you kept your promise!" I respond. "Of course I did sweetie." He let go of me for a moment and asked, "How about you, are you keeping up with your promises as well?"
In my mind I wanted to tell him how badly I wanted to just come home, but instead, I said, "Of course I have, Freddie." "I'm very glad that you are.", Freddie responded and gave me a small peck on my cheek. "It sure does seem like you are, I mean you look like you're getting better. You look as beautiful as ever, John."
I knew it! I knew he'd notice how skinny I was! But I appreciate that he wasn't really being harsh on it.
"T-thanks.", I shyly whisper. "Have you gotten to like it around here? I know it's already been a month in, but I'm curious." He inquired. "Y-yeah, it's great. It's kinda like a temporary home away from home." I felt my eyes water in that moment, I just wanted to go home, but no, I have to stay here for another month.
"Now Deaky, don't fret about it. You're doing amazing so far! I promise you that you'll come out of this a changed man. You'll learn from your experiences here to share with us.", Freddie explains, seeing how hurt I was, he brought me in for another hug.
What he just said is true. I will become a changed person. I'm in a band for heck's sake! I want to be in it for as long as possible.
"Don't worry Fred, I promise that I'll be a better partner to you.", I managed to say through tears. "I know, baby. And you're gonna be sober. You've got this, John." He let go of me and kissed my rosy lips, not caring whoever saw. "Listen I only came by briefly, but don't worry, I'll come visit before you're out."
"Promise?", I asked wiping my eyes.
"Of course my love. I'll see you later, okay? Be good for me.", with that he kissed my hand and went on his way. I smiled ever so graciously, I'm very happy that he came by. His words about sobering up and changing really hit me into realization. I stood there and watched as he left with the other two, after watching the car drive off, I headed back to my room.
I know I can do this...
