Chapter 38: Gathering Before the Storm

The stench of smoke, blood, and scorched earth still clung to the battlefield like a curse. In the shadow of their crushing victory over the knights, the air was thick with anticipation and dread. At the heart of this stillness stood the Emperor of Calamity—Infinite—his presence towering, eyes blazing like twin suns as he surveyed his gathered elite.

Before him stood the Eight Emperors of Calamity, their expressions carved from stone, each bearing the mark of their dark dominion.

“My comrades,” Infinite spoke, his voice a resonant force that filled the vast chamber, “the time has come to strike the next blow. The city of Starfall, once a symbol of hope and resilience, now stands exposed—vulnerable and trembling. We will show no mercy. No hesitation. We will erase them.”

A silent, chilling unity passed through the ranks. The Emperors nodded in unison, their eyes alight with malice, their resolve absolute. Each was a nightmare given form, their powers honed to perfection—a pantheon of devastation.

To Infinite’s right stood Angel, the Griffin, his scythe resting against his shoulder like a reaper waiting for dusk. His wings, vast and deadly, unfurled behind him, and his golden eyes gleamed with lethal intent.

Beside him, Thomas, the Ring Dragon Master, towered like a mountain. His aura pulsed with ancient fury, the power of his dragons slumbering at his command, ready to be unleashed in a storm of scale and flame.

Then came Zoey, Empress of Cassiopeia, her gaze sharp as starlight, every move calculated like a strategist’s endgame. Lyra, Empress of the Morning Evening Star, stood beside her—deceptively delicate, her mastery of manipulation woven like silk around every word and gesture.

Embrya, Empress of Anubis, loomed in silence, her eyes shadowed beneath her dark hood. Power seeped from her every step, an aura of ancient dread that stilled even the boldest hearts.

Alexander of Sybaris, brute and unrelenting, exuded pure destruction. His massive form bore scars like medals, his presence alone enough to shatter morale.

Then there was Allen of Hydra, his body constantly shifting, a mass of writhing limbs and serpentine forms—chaos incarnate.

And finally, the newest among them: Kaito, the silent warrior cloaked in mystery. In his hands burned the Eclipse Core of the Draco Phoenix—a relic of primal might, uniting fire and shadow into one devastating force.

Together, they formed a council of calamity—an unstoppable storm waiting to be unleashed.

Infinite raised a hand, and a dark flame erupted in his palm. “With my ascended form—Gemini Epyon Nemesis—we will lead the charge. Starfall will fall. Its light will be snuffed out, and the world will remember that resistance is nothing but a fleeting illusion.”

Once more, the emperors nodded. No fear. No doubt. This was their hour—the storm had gathered.

And it would break upon Starfall with annihilating force.

As they prepared to set out, the scene shifted to the Kruzanagi residence, where the Haven Knights were still reeling from their recent defeat.

Abisai stood near a window, his eyes haunted by memories. He stared blankly into the distance, as though replaying every moment leading up to Kaisan’s death on a loop.

Amelia’s voice was barely above a whisper. “The worst part is… he thinks it’s all his fault. He hasn’t said it, but you can see it in the way he moves. He’s traumatized.”

Mida scowled. “I don’t know how long he’s going to stay like this. He has to snap out of it eventually.”

Sage Lysandra's tone was calm but firm. “Mida, he’s not just grieving. He’s in shock. He’s lost two people he loved — Kaisan, and before him, Basil.”
