🌑 Chapter 53 - The Harp of Requiem
The grand chamber of the Nine Emperors pulsed with otherworldly light as the Orb of Magic floated into the center. Its surface shimmered like liquid crystal, swirling with ancient runes as it sought the next chosen hand. The glow deepened, and the room hushed.
The ob pulsed-then drifted toward a tall, pale woman robed in indigo and silver. In her hands rested a harp strung with threads that glimmered faintly, like starlight caught between life and death.
Lyra, the Empress of the Morning and Evening Star.
Her voice, low and mournful, filled the chamber as her fingers brushed the strings in a haunting, sin note.
Lyra (softly):
"So it is me the orb has chosen. Then so be it. I will finish what you could not."
Her silver gaze drifted across the table, locking onto Angel of the Griffin. His golden eyes flared with fury, his clawed hand tghtening around the haft of his scythe until the steel whined.
Lyra (cold, but calm):
"I will deal with the woman called Ashley... where you, Angel, failed."
The chamber tensed at her words. Angel rose from his seat, wings flaring wide, feathers fallig like burning cinders. His jaw clenched, and for a heartbeat the scythe lifted-its shadow scraping across the floor as though it yearned for blood.
Angel (snarling):
"Watch your tongue, Lyra. Speak again, and I'll carve the melody of your song in your throat."
Lyra did not flinch. She plucked another note from her harp, the vibration lingering in the air like a funeral bell
Lyra (soft, but cutting):
"Threats from a wounded beast do not move me. You have failed. Let me do what I must."
The tension cracked the silence. Then-Angel exhaled slowly, lowering his scythe with visible restraint. He sank back into his seat, though his talons scraped deep scars into the armrest as he sat. His pride burned, but his eyes followed her like daggers.
From the far side of the table, Allen of Hydra leaned forward, his scaled arms glistening faintly with venomous sheen.
Allen (hissing):
"Should we send one of our new scouts with her? It may be wise... the girl Ashley has more allies now than before."
Before Lyra could answer, a darker voice slid into the room like smoke.
Embryo, the Empress of Anubis, her jackal mask gleaming with spectral light, shook her head slowly.
Embryo (with solemn weight):
"There is no need. You forget why she is the most dangerous among us."
The room fell silent again. The Empress's mask turned toward Lyra as her words deepened like an echo from a tomb.
Embryo:
"I can already hear her music when she leaves this chamber. By the time the warriors hear her requiem... it will be too late. For them, it will mean nothing but certain death."
Lyra plucked another soft chord from her harp-a melody that carried sorrow, yet also finality. Without another word, she rose, her cloak shimmering with fading starlight as she walked toward the chamber doors. Each step resonated with quiet doom.
Behind her, Angel's eyes followed with hatred, his knuckles white around his scythe, aching to strike.
But he did not. Not yet.
The harp's last note lingered in the chamber like the breath of a dying star.

🌒 The Song of Dusk
Lyra did not walk as an Empress that day.
No glimmering armor, no shadow of the Nine behind her-only a woman in a simple indigo dress, orange hair tumbling like a river of fire down her back. The Harp of Requiem rested in her hands, its strings alive with starlight.
