CHAPTER 56 - SHADOWS OF TRUST

INT. ORION'S FLAGSHIP - STRATOSPHERE - NIGHT

The ship hung above the clouds like a silent predator, its engines purring softly beneath the stars. Inside, the Knights of Haven gathered in the dim glow of the war room - the heart of their command.

A circular holo-table illuminated their faces, projecting a red-laced map of the Empire's surveillance grid - pulsing, shifting, alive with danger.

Tension filled the air. No one spoke for a moment.

Then Tony broke the silence, voice sharp with frustration.
"So we're really going through with this? Risking our lives for some family we don't even know - all because a man who once served the Empire asked nicely?"

Sirius crossed his arms, his tone flat.
"He's right. For all we know, this could be a setup. The Empire's baiting us into a trap."

Mida nodded, her expression hard.
"We barely have enough resources to keep our own people safe. And now we're supposed to save his? A scientist who built the very technology that destroyed Haven?"

Abisai didn't respond - not yet. His silence only made the tension thicker.

Then, from across the table, a quiet voice spoke.
It was Lily, curious but cautious.
"Your planet... Haven," she said softly, looking at Tony. "Do your people still value things like family and friendship? Or has war taken that from you too?"

Tony blinked, caught off guard. His tone softened, but his words still carried edge.
"Of course we value it. Family and friendship are what kept us alive. But this is different. We're not saving our people - we're helping our enemy's family. Risking our skins for someone who helped the Empire rise."

Lily frowned, glancing toward Abisai, then back to Tony. "Sometimes the line between enemy and victim isn't as clear as it seems."

Sirius gave a low hum. "Maybe. But right now, all I see is risk."

Mida crossed her arms again. "Agreed."

Ashley stepped forward, eyes sharp, her cybernetic armor catching the light.
"You're all forgetting something," she said, her voice steady but full of feeling. "I was part of the Empire. A mindless servant - a weapon with no will of my own. Until Basil freed me... and Professor Green restored me."
Her gaze fell on the Whip of Pisces hanging at her side - a relic of her rebirth.
"I had no memory, no name. But that man gave me both back. If not for him, I'd still be the Empire's puppet - not standing here with any of you."

Her words hit like a quiet wave, silencing the room.

Then Amelia stepped forward, holding her staff close - its crystal faintly glowing with aurora light.
"When Infinite's troops attacked your base," she began, her tone softer, wistful, "Austria handed me her staff. I thought it was the end - that I couldn't be a hero like any of you. But somehow, the staff itself chose me."
She looked around the room, meeting each of their eyes.
"Professor Green believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself. He knew Abisai long before any of us did - and he saw something in both of us that no one else did. So for once... we have to trust him."

Tony looked ready to argue again, but Abisai finally spoke - his tone calm, resolute.

"Believe it or not," he said, stepping closer to the table, "Professor Green was the only one who ever acknowledged me. Everyone else... saw me as an outsider. Something alien. But he looked at me - and saw a person."
He paused, eyes distant as memories flickered behind them.
"If it wasn't for him, I never would've found the Sword of Orion. He believed I could be more than just a weapon. He made me believe it too."
