We're baaaaccckkk! Still adjusting to the body clock but we're back!
So, that was an EXPERIENCE. Quickly learnt I hate flying, because planes are SO loud and it's impossible to sleep in such a cramped chair. The flight was hell, 10 hours to the layover airport, sit around for 3 hours waiting and then another 5 hours on the second plane. By the time we got to Rome it'd been 38 hours with no sleep. So we just immediately zonked out in the hotel room.
Rome Wow, is all I have to say. For several reasons. One, the amount of ancient ruins just... there. Like walk down the street and BOOM colosseum. Turn right BOOM the circus maximus. And for two, the driving. Road rules just don't exist apparently because I've never seen anyone drive so wildly. But because everyone there does it, and is so used to it, no accidents happen. People just park wherever, if you want to cross the road you gotta just run and pray you don't get hit. But if you live in Rome, you wouldn't really need to drive anyway because everything is so walkable. We got to all the squares and shops on foot, it was a long walk only because we went to so many places in a short amount of time. If you were there longer, you could spread it out into shorter walks more. And so many dogs! Everyone has a little dog here, no big breeds because there's not enough room for them. But everywhere you go, there's a small dog in a little coat sitting next to their owner who's drinking coffee in some small cafe. Went inside the colosseum, holy shit it's big. I can only imagine how much bigger it was when it was still in one piece.
