Minho's Pov
Emma and I were our running again doing our daily routine. It's the same story everyday. We wake up, we run, we come back, map our "findings", eat , and then go to sleep. It's so boring, I just wished something a little more exciting would happen. Emma was feeling a little under the weather today but she insisted she had to run. I don't know what id do if she got hurt or really sick. She's my everything, without her im nothing. We were nearing the Maze doors when all of the sudden a Griever stood between us and the door. I pushed Emma behind me trying to put as much distance between her and the Griever. If it wanted her, it was going to have to go through me to get her. In an instant it lunged forward and I pushed Emma to run down the corridor to our left. We had made an emergency plan. If a Griever would ever chase us, we'd follow our escape route that loops back around to the Glade. I stopped dead in my tracks and fell to my knees. A sharp pain exploded in my right shoulder. The shucking Griever had stung me! I saw Emma's eyes widen in both panic and horror. I desperately tried to move to get us out but I couldn't. Black started to cloud my vision. The last thing I saw was Emma running toward me.
I woke up in a cold sweat to see Newt and Alby above me. I remember what the creators had done to us and why we were here. Alby tried to ask me about it but I simply didn't want to talk about it. There were honestly more important things on my mind, that being Emma. One thing I was happy I remembered was that we were dating before we were sent here. I knew that there was a connection. I had felt it in my bones when I saw her again. I shot straight out of the bed when I noticed Emma wasn't by my side.
"Where's Emma?" I asked.
Alby and Newt shot me a sorrowful look. I gulped. I hope she isn't .....dead. No, she can't be. I can't think like that.
" She's in a coma," Alby stated sympathetically. My heart shattered as if it were glass.
" Why? How long was I out?" I questioned.
This time it was Newt who answered me, " You've been out for a month. Emma was here. In fact, she never left your side. She wouldn't come out of this room not even to eat. She was starving herself but she didn't care. She wanted to be the first person you saw when you woke up. I guess eventually her body couldn't take it anymore and she passed out into a coma. I'm sorry. "
They both left, giving me some time to comprehend what I was just told. My girlfriend was in a coma essentially because of me. I jumped out of the bed and ran to her room finding some boy standing over him. I don't remember seeing him.
" What are you doing here with my girlfriend? " I demanded.
" Oh hey Minho. Calm down, she's my best friend you know," the boy replied. No he wasn't, I haven't seen him before.
"Who are you and who do you think you are? "
" It's me Thomas. You know, sometimes I'm your running partner? "
There was no way. But seeing how he looked at me and Emma convinced me otherwise. Maybe the changing had made me forget.
" I'm sorry Thomas, but I don't remember you." I said. After the words left my mouth, he solemnly nodded his head and left. I looked over to Emma. I took in her appearance. She was scarily pale, almost like she was dead. I did this. That was when I lost it and broke down into tears. I kneeled beside her bed and brought her hand in mine, the hand that was made just for me.
" Please wake up babe. I need you," I sobbed. " Please, "
Two weeks flew by quick and Emma had shown no signs of improvement. I cried all the time and I no longer ran the Maze. I was starting to get my memory back piece by piece. I was about to fall asleep when I felt her squeeze my hand. I jolted up to see her eyes open. I took her into my arms immediately and just held her. She was back.
" You came back, " I breathed in relief.
" I'll always come back to you," she relpied.
