Sianan's Pov

Grievers upon Grievers were storming into the Glade. I scanned the crowd to see the Gladers running towards the homestead and those who weren't were gathering their weapons. No. They are going to kill all of them. They are only going to make it worse. If only everyone could see they are just as afraid of us as we are of them. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked to see it was Thomas. He gave me an uneasy and sorrowful gaze. He ran off with his spear in hand to attack.

" Thomas! Wait! " I yelled after him. Just believe me. He ignored me or he didn't hear. I couldn't take this any longer. If Thomas wasn't going to help me defend the Grievers, then I was going to do it myself no matter the costs. I ran up to each of the Gladers and begged them to stop.

" Please! Stop! They're just afraid! Leave them alone!" I screamed.

No one would listen. I heard wailing coming from besides me. No. I darted towards the noise. Once I got there I saw Gally. Ever since Thomas came, Gally had been slowly losing it. And tonight, I felt something had snapped and he lost all control. He was swinging his spear around almost aimlessly. He looked to the Griever and was about to strike the final blow.

" Gally! No!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and jumped in between the two. A searing pain formed in my right leg. I looked down to see the knife lodged into my thigh. Tears welled in my eyes. I could no longer stand and dropped to my knees. The pain was unbearable as I tried to stop crying. The feeling in my leg was slowly going away. My body was going numb and I knew I couldn't take the pain much longer. At least the Griever was safe. I looked back at Gally to see he was leaving. I tried to reach out and grab his ankle but he escaped my grasp and ran off. He didn't even care he stabbed me. He ran up to the Griever that was charging us and killed it. Behind me, the other Griever got up and left. Across its side it had a huge gash. It looked back at me, as if to say thank you and escaped from my sight. I spotted Gally again hovering over something or someone.

" This is all your fault shuck face!" He screamed. He then began repeatedly kicked and punched the object. He was yelling it was your fault over and over again. I crained my neck to see who was receiving Gally ' s violent blows. My eyes widened when I saw it was Thomas.

" Thomas! " I cried. I found all the strength left in me and I got up on my feet. I slowly limped over to help Thomas. He wasn't going to get hurt as long as I was alive. I pushed all the pain away and began running. I was moving faster than I ever thought possible. I jumped on Gally and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down. He came down easily as I had caught him off guard. We both landed on the ground; hard. I yelled out in pain as Gally landed on top of my leg, pushing the knife deeper into my leg. I couldn't handle the pain as I screamed at the top of my lungs. Thomas looked panicked as he rushed over to me. The last thing I saw was Gally being yanked off of me as dark spots clouded my vision.

I awoke the next day with a massive headache and my leg bandaged up. I had come to the conclusion that I was in the Med Jacks hut. I slowly got up and walked outside. There were dead Grievers everywhere. Tears sprung to my eyes again. Before I had anytime to react, Thomas ' s lips were on mine. I kissed back with as much passion as he was giving to me. We pulled away breathless. He didn't leave me or tell me everything was going to be okay. Instead he just held me.

" I love you Sian, " He whispered. I nodded my head in reply, shocked that those words left his mouth. I got out of his grip and smiled at him.

"Thomas. Just trust me," I said and took off into the Maze. It was just Thomas and I out here as everyone else was still hiding in the homestead. I ran down several corners not exactly knowing here I was going. I stopped in my tracks as I saw the last two Grievers. One of them immediately came up to me. I stood frozen. But then I noticed this one had a scar down the side of it. It was the Griever I had saved earlier. It came up to me and kneeled down. I placed my hand on it and it moved closer to me. It trusted me as much as I trusted it.

" Sian!" Thomas yelled as he came next to me. He seemed terrified to see the Griever and I so close. I ushered him over and grabbed his hand and pit it on the Griever. He relaxed as the Griever didn't do anything.

" I do trust you Sian. No matter what it takes, I'm going to protect you and help you protect them." He said as hi kissed me for the third time.
