X-Tale

Star was munching a book about the stars, reading usually a dull pastime and so very confusing with how the numbers swam in his vision and made it harder to decipher the words in front of his face. That is why numbers were so much better, giving him everything he needed with little effort and aiding his understanding of the world.

They were his first friend, first family and they would never leave him. It's why he implicitly trusted the Code of the world, the core blocks of life itself and something he could interact with without any of those silly issues such as 'miscommunication'.

He had felt pure delight at learning that eating books was even more efficient than trying to read them, his magic breaking down every word, every bit of magic used to create the item in question before assimilating it into his mind like a new computer update. It was interesting with the taste seeming to vary depending on what subject he was reading, so far the dark spice of science books his favourite.

He hummed happily while kicking his feet childishly, watching from his vantage point on top of the only building not on fire. Glitchy was far too stressed and loud, shouting silly things like 'eating books isn't normal' and 'you might get sick!'.

He'd eaten far less normal things a Deity or two, some Void matter that looked too enticing to leave alone and had been fine.

It's like they didnt listen when he said he would be fine, that there was no need to worry about him he was more worried about everyone else.

His family was nice, oddly kind considering he was a mess of Code that somehow still counted as a monster. He bit into his hardcover book, gaze unseeing as he looked over the AU with the numbers flashing in warning. He flicked them away with a twicth of his fingers, frowning at the realisation he hadn't done enough and that things were still on the path he'd hoped to avoid.

The possibility of having to leave was ever growing as the numbers and percentages flicked in front of his eyes, trying to change the sad blue numbers but they resisted his magic and even sparked at him, as if chastising him. He had hoped that the thing had settled down, that begrudgingly letting it be so physically close to his family would help but it hadn't.

He finished his book just as the sun set, the world warping and shifting as everything rewound yet again, the AU's automatic RESET features that was so integrated into the AU it would collapse if stopped being activated.

A shame as it would have solved the issue about to happen rather nicely.

His human form flickered, his form becoming indistinguishable from the surroundings with the white furred creature beside him looking endless and yet so very small. Reality creaked as if making more space for the two before it all snapped back into place, not a single thing out of place as everything was once again spotless.

"I'll find a way to hurt you one day"

His voice was calm, no hint of anger of fear present as he delivered the promise without any flair. The air itself seem to briefly hold its breath, like witnessing something which be left unseen.

"Woof!"

The white creature's tail didn't stop wagging, the declaration endearing the entity even more, nuzzling into the child's side as the world flashed as the start of the nightmare began yet again.

A God's love never stops in the end, no matter if the source of the affection rebuffs it all.
