Chapter 94- Welcome to the show! (X-Tale)

Toby's idea of 'helping' and making things more fun only adds more confusion and anguish for poor Star. Surely the fake dog will understand that soon...right?

X-Tale

The life in the AU continued like nothing was wrong, everyone going about their day with XGaster still trying to hide from Jammy who was still rather determined to rinse the monster for answers. Origin and End were still watching it all with soft smiles with Error 404 near tears while trying to corral Kevin and Brom to behave.

It was like any other time the family went on holiday, all having fun in someway with nothing seeming out of sorts.

At first glance that is. The small cracks starting to show in small gestures and actions.

The way Vega looked overly paranoid, the slight frown on Error 404's face like they smelled something bad or Jammy occasionally staring blankly up at the sky, likley trying to decipher what the Voices were talking about.

"Woof!"

Toby's tail hadn't stopped wagging, head resting on Star's lap with his back leg happily twitching at getting some nice petting. This had been a very good idea, it taking a small bit of planning and for his local counterpart to be absorbed into the Code for a bit so he could have a bit more control but it was working out perfectly.

Now Star couldn't be bored in the slightest and they got to play with the powers they absorbed from the Deities without any worry.

An excellent deed in his opinion and would have patted himself on the back if Star didn't keep flicking his nose whenever he adjusted his limbs. It was hardly his fault that this body was so very constricting, still not used to it despite how much time had passed.

Simply watching everything from a distance had been so much simpler, his essence simply 'observing' life however he wished and from whatever angle needed but that had grown boring in the end, so here he was!

"..how long are you going to do this for? I thought we were done with this after the first time....is this a punishment?"

Toby's head twitched, large black eyes looking up at Star but the babybones wasn't looking at him and was instead staring out into the AU, curious what could have caught their attention.

Their words slowly registering, woofing in confusion and puzzlement.

It was so nice that Star could understand him even in this form, pretty sure it wouldn't be appreciated if he accidentally caused a few mortals to go insane if he shifted into his true form.

They were such delicate things, it was not his fault that they couldn't handle his true voice or pretty much anything. They all had the constitution of wet soggy tissue paper, which was his general opinion of mortals but Star was different!

So much better!

He nuzzled under Star's chin, sneezing when something dropped on his noise and looking up to see a few tears had escaped Star's face.

Why were they crying?

...Did they not like his game?

He was sure they would as they saw the world in much more fun ways then most people, even the Deities far too strict and not dealing with change nearly as quickly as mortals.

He couldn't see why they saw this as punishment and the first time when he had put their chosen siblings in their Birth AU had been a gift, as was now. It was the gift of choice, a choice to start again or move a different path. It seems that no matter how hard he tried he still couldnt fully understand Star but that didn't mean he wouldn't stop trying!
