September 2019:
Hypersonic Missiles got to number one. I never doubted Sam and the guys for one minute, but now that it actually had the title of number one album, the pride I had for him couldn't be topped. I saw the way his eyes shimmered with utter joy behind loads of disbelief, the way he couldn't let go of me the day of its release, as though he wanted to desperately remain grounded. Even as he had bottle after bottle, pint after pint, I knew that this man was destined for stardom, whether the public knew he was dancing on tables or not. This man was an absolute legend; a beast of the music industry. He was destined for brilliance.
We were rough the evening after, my throat all scratchy from the cheering and singing, and he just didn't seem to want to roll out of bed at all. His arm lay around my waist, the way it always did, as I chugged my third bottle of water that morning, and it was then when I realised just how desperately I wanted this to last forever. I wanted us to last forever. Even though I also had the desire to go back to sleep, I was drawn to my boyfriend next to me and I couldn't even fathom trying to take my eyes off of him. So I observed.
Sam was the rags to riches story many dream, but only few achieve. He had the drive. He had the story. This wasn't going to be the last that the world heard from him, and it certainly wouldn't be the only release party making us feel this shattered.
"What?" Sam spoke, alerting me from my trance, a boyish smirk on his face, "Am I really that sexy?" he asked, striking a pose
"Irresistible, Sam." I snorted, placing my palm on his cheek, "Even when your breath smells like rotting corpse."
He let out a breathy laugh before wincing, making me laugh, "That's so pretty. You're so pretty."
"I laughed, Sam, and not even an attractive one at that." I said matter of factly.
"You're always attractive to me," Sam declared, turning over so that he could wrap his arm fully round my waist and pulled me in so that we were chest to chest, "no matter how ugly you laugh."
"So you're saying I have an ugly laugh?" I raised my eyebrow, a faint smirk still sat on my face.
"Not at all." he tucked a hair behind my ear, "Not one bit of you is ugly, actually."
Then he nuzzled into my neck, and I was completely gone. I'd turn to mush. He could've done anything to me in that moment and I wouldn't have questioned it, but he just stayed there, and within moments, Sam had fallen back to sleep. Thank goodness it wasn't summer, otherwise I'd have felt suffocated.
The boredom that came with the absence of Sam's childishness hits hard now that I'm used to his taunting, so I honestly didn't know what to do with myself as I lay stiffly. He was out for the count and he looked so cute as he moulded into me, so I didn't want to wake him up. That's why I reached out for my phone and checked socials, messages, and we can't forget about the addictive scroll on TikTok.
Yvonne: Hey sweetie, just wondering if you're up to anything today? Got a bit of news and thought we hadn't been out in a while. I'm aware it's spontaneous and that you're probably hungover but thought I'd still offer xxx
Evie: I'd love to (my tender head wouldn't)! What time we thinking? xxx
Yvonne: Just whenever you get a chance to get ready, the babies have me up and ready to go already xxx
Evie: Give me an hour, Sam's still asleep after last night and I need to freshen up a little xxx
Yvonne: Of course! Nails? xxx
Evie: It's like you read my mind xxx
Yvonne: I need mine done too. See you soon! xxx
With Yvonne struggling with her surgeries and being a mam now, we couldn't often do our girlie trips out anymore, so I was more than happy to drop my slow and lazy morning to go with her. Sam, on the other hand, I didn't reckon he'd be as thrilled as I am about going out. Knowing him, he'd pull me even closer and tell me that he was too ill to be home alone, but I was getting my nails done whether he wanted me to or not. Looking after myself had became a task I actually carried out regularly by September as I realised that it was okay to put me first and I deserved the love for myself that I managed to give to everybody else.
As predicted, Sam subconsciously tightened his grip on me as I began my attempt to wriggle out of his arms. A slight chuckle left my lips as he did so, but I wasn't stopping my fight, because Yvonne and I were going out whether he liked it or not. My hands gripped onto his forearms as I pulled them apart, completely ignoring his whining as I approached the bathroom, hoping that the mirror would be nice to me on this hungover morning.
Wow. My hair was a statement.
I turned the shower faucet on and waited for the water to warm up as I undressed myself. Like an ant to a picnic, Sam shuffled out of bed and stood in the bathroom doorway with a pout on his face as I pulled my pyjama shirt off and tossed my hair so that it wouldn't get wet. Whenever he saw me naked, Sam pretended that he wasn't checking me out, but I caught it every time. So, with an amused smile to myself, I stepped into the shower, awaiting my boyfriend to join me, because it wouldn't be a proper shower if he didn't.
Lo and behold, at least thirty seconds later, my boyfriend joined me in the shower in all of his glory, arms snaking around my waist and lifting me up so that my body sat between him and the cold tiling of the shower wall. My lips had curled into a smile as I looked into his eyes, the love I have for him just oozing out of me. He bit his lip, an obvious sign that what I thought would happen was actually going to happen.
It did. It always did.
Shower sex was just otherworldly. Shower sex with my beautiful boyfriend was even better. Shower sex hungover was slightly sickening. So, I hopped out of the shower quickly and aimed for the toilet bowl as the alcohol eventually came back up. I heard Sam's deep chuckle as he came behind me, rubbing his palm up and down my soaked back.
That's when I realised where home was. My safety. It was Sam, it always had been.

A/N:
Hello hello everyone!
It's been a long long long while and my memory is continuing to fail me with regards to this fic, hence why I'm deciding to wrap this story up within the next few chapters.
I've got another story for a different fandom released and another being written, which is why I've not been on top of releasing more. If you're interested, have a little peek, if not, that's fine too, I'm certain there'll be other Sam fics that I write. Perhaps someday in the future, I'll come back to this one and make a sequel, but as of right now, I'm preparing to say goodbye to Evelyn and Sam.
Thanks for 24K reads!! Yous are lush
