Chapter 104 – The Field of Unborn Things
Inside Miexha's Unconsciousness
Miexha stood barefoot in the middle of an open field.
It was the same. It was always the same.
Tall grass brushed against her knees, whispering with every movement of the wind. The air carried that familiar scent—sweet at first, then rotting underneath.
The bunnies were there.
Two black ones tumbled near a cracked stone, their tiny bodies colliding in quiet, careless joy. A brown one nosed at a patch of flowers that had no scent, no life.
And in the far corner—
The white bunny lay curled beneath the roots of a dying tree, its fur soaked in dried blood.
Its eyes were still open.
Miexha's knees hit the ground. A sob tore out of her chest.
She had cried here before. So many times she had lost count.
But this time— It hurt differently.
Heavier. Like something inside her finally understood.
"Why..." she whispered, her voice breaking. "Why does it always end like this...?"
Guilt settled deep into her bones.
A shimmer rippled at the edge of the field.
Miexha froze.
The golden bunny appeared.
She had seen it before.
Always distant.
Always silent.
Always watching.
But now, it walks toward her.
"...Mother."
The word drifted through the air, soft—and unbearably heavy.
Miexha's head snapped up.
"W-what...?"
The golden bunny tilted its head, its faintly glowing eyes fixed on her.
"I'm sorry," it said, its voice small, trembling.
"I didn't mean to... bring you here."
It turned. Slowly. And began to hop away.
Like an invitation to follow.
Miexha hesitated— Then she followed.
The world shifted beneath her feet.
Grass dissolved into stone.
The sky dimmed.
Trees twisted into black iron shapes.
A graveyard.
The golden bunny stopped before a worn, forgotten headstone.
Miexha stepped closer.
A name was carved into the stone— But the letters refused to stay still, slipping and blurring like smoke.
At its base rested a picture frame with an unclear face.
"I was wrong," the golden bunny said quietly.
Miexha looked down at it.
"I thought... if I helped you turn back time... everything would change."
Its voice cracked. "I just wanted to be born into a complete family..."
The world twisted again.
They stood in the middle of a child's birthday party.
