'Silver's POV'
I sigh and roll onto my side, looking up to the clock once I find its place on the wall.
12:07am.
I stand up and grab my sweater, throwing it on as I quietly make my way out of the monastery.
I fly up to the roof of the building, sitting on the edge of the roof once I've landed.
I sigh and hold my head in my hands.
Why did this have to be my destiny?
Why couldn't I have been a normal girl?
Why did those freak scientists have to make me into a mutant?! They've ruined so many lives! Why?! What purpose does it have?!
I grab the first thing my hand finds on the roof; a rock, and chuck it at the ground. It hits something, or, rather, someone.
"Ow, what the-? Silver?" I can see the faint outline of Cole
"Cole, what are you doing up this late?" I ask, flying down and landing in front of him
"I could ask you the same thing." His answer puts a small smile on my face. I work quickly to remove it, replacing it with the regular monotone expression that I wear
"I couldn't sleep." I answer simply, shrugging my shoulders as I do
"Look, if you're worried about what that woman said, don't be. What does she know, she's just some freak scientist." He makes an effort to make me feel better, but his facts are slightly off
"Actually, she isn't 'just some freak scientist'. She's the one who created me, I'm her experiment." I look to the ground, not wanting to meet his eyes
"Silver, I'm not going to pretend that I know what you went through, because I definitely don't. But, if there's one thing I know, it's that we all have control over one thing in this world, and that's ourselves. I don't believe that anyone can manipulate someone's brain to create only one purpose in their life. Besides, you have a destiny to fulfil, and destiny is never wrong, you have a purpose, a great one." At some point during his speech, I find myself looking up into his dark brown eyes
"Thank you, Cole." I smile again
"No problem, I only told you the truth." He smiles back at me.
He takes a step closer, as do I. Our chests press together, we lean in closer by the second. As my lips are about to touch his, I stop.
I... I can't...
His eyes open and he pulls away slightly. I pull back and turn away from him, tears beginning to sting at the corners of my eyes.
"Silver, what's wrong?" He asks, stepping towards me again
"I'm sorry, I can't do this to you." I bite my lip, trying anything to stop the burning tears from running down my cheeks
"What do you mean?" He asks, I take another step back, causing him to take another step forward
"Don't you see..? I don't want to get you hurt... I'm not normal... Vanessa has always been right, nobody could ever accept me. I'm a freak!" I turn to face him as my voice raises slightly
"Is that what she's told you? That no one could ever love you? Silver, that isn't true, she can't tell you that-" I cut him off
"She can tell me that, Cole, and she does!!"
"Why do you listen to her?"
"I..." I hesitate "...I don't know..." A single tear finds its way down my cheek
"Silver, just because she tells you that stuff doesn't mean that it's true. We've accepted you and Dez, Lilian and even Julia in her new form. You don't need to worry, you can trust us." He moves to hold me in his arms, and I let him. He draws circles on my back
"Cole... What if I can't fulfil my destiny?" I look up to him
"Don't worry about that either, we're all going to help you." We stand there like that for a long time.
In that time I finally decide that I can trust him, I can trust them, all of them. They've accepted us into their home and have made us feel safe from harm.
I can trust them.
I will trust them.
