'Silver's POV'
I throw the door to the control room open and see my father, aunt, uncle, Clarissa, Nya, Khaos, Mr. Borg, and the guys sitting around a table.
Lilian runs up behind me, most likely wondering what I'm doing.
"Silver, what-" I cut Clarissa off
"I'm coming on the rescue mission." I state firmly
"Silver, you're still injured, you may cause yourself permanent damage if you come on this mission." Zane says calmly
"I don't care, he's my son and I'm going to help get him back." I look at my father when he begins speaking
"Silver, please, think about the position you're in. Not only are you injured, but if the scientists got their hands on you again, they would surely kill you. I could not live with myself if they killed you." His eyes hold tears
"Dad, I can't just sit and wait while you all risk your lives-" Khaos stands up and moves to stand in front of me
"Silver, can I talk to you for a minute, please?" I nod hesitantly. He takes my hand and leads me to the other side of the room and into the security room
"Khaos, you have to understand what I'm going through. I can't just stay here, I have to help them get Kadence back. Please, say you understand!" A tear runs down my cheek
"I understand, Silver, I do, but you can't come on the mission-" I cut him off
"Why not?! Because they'll kill me?! I don't care if they kill me, as long as we get Kadence back!" I yell
"Don't even say that! I've almost lost you too many times, Silver! I will not let that happen again! I can't raise Kadence by myself, I need you!" His eyes look so desperate, desperate to keep me safe
"Khaos, I'm sorry, but I have to do this. I will not let you fight for our son alone. I can't raise him alone either, I need you too. So, we're going to have to keep each other safe." He sighs in defeat
"Alright, I've got your back if you've got mine." He looks deeply into my eyes, I nod
"I love you." I lean up and kiss him, placing one hand on his cheek before pulling away
"I love you too." He smiles warmly at me, I return the gesture.
We walk back into the meeting, hand in hand. My father opens his mouth immediately
"Dad, please, hear me out." He shakes his head back and forth
"I cannot allow you to go on this mission, Silver, the risk of your death is too high."
"Sensei, forgive me, but, is it possible that you are biased in your decision because you are Silver's father?" Zane asks
"Of course I am biased, I don't want to send my daughter to what could possibly be her death." A few tears run down his cheeks
"Well, I think it's only fair if someone else makes the final decision on whether Silver should be allowed on this mission or not." Cole says, the rest nod
"Alright, who should get to make the final decision?" Lloyd asks
"I think it should be Mr. Borg. He doesn't have any sort of relation to Silver, so his decision should be pretty unbiased." Kai states, Jay nods
"I agree. I think Mr. Borg is best suited for the task." He says, everyone nods, other than my father, who keeps his eyes focused on me
"Then it's settled, Mr. Borg will make the final decision on whether Silver is to go on this rescue mission." Garmadon says
"Silver, Lilian, please leave so we can make a decision." I nod and let go of Khaos' hand. Lilian and I walk out of the room, closing the door behind us.
"I don't care what his decision is, I'm going either way." I state, Lilian smiles
"I knew you would say that." She stops and turns towards me, her face going serious
"Silver, I want you to know that I will support you in whatever you do, and I am going to help you as well as I can." I smile and hug her
"Lilian, you've already helped me so much. All those times back at the institute that you lulled me to sleep, protected me from the white coats, helped me stop crying after the many tests that they gave us... You're my best friend, and I don't know what I'd do without you..." By this point I'm in tears
"Silver, thank you. That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me..." We both laugh slightly "you're the best friend I could have ever gotten..." She squeezes me and I push my face into her chest, soaking her shirt with tears.
She hums her tune and pets my hair. I begin to remember the first time I'd heard her hum this to me...
I was still little, I had only been at the institution for a couple weeks.
The white coats had just thrown me back into Lilian's cage after a test. I remember the test, it was horrifying.
My wings had just grown in, they were still covered in baby feathers. They had made incisions all around where my wings connect to my back to see if they had grown in correctly. It was terribly painful. After they had seen that they had grown in perfectly, they decided to test my flying abilities, while I had giant gashes around my back.
I remember trying to fly with the cuts on my back. They had only tested my flying once before, and it didn't hurt nearly as much as this did. My wings and the area around them burned and stung. Even though I was young, I knew that I was opening the cuts more by flying, but if I tried to stop, they electrocuted me.
So there I was, on the floor of Lilian's cage, bawling my eyes out while the gashes on my back bled furiously.
Lilian held me on her lap and gently pet my hair. I pushed my face into her chest and balled her shirt up in my fists, like if I let go she would disappear.
She hummed her tune softly, then told me that everything would be alright, and went back to humming. I fell asleep easily, and she's used that to get me to fall asleep ever since...
"Lilian, I never got to ask you where you learned that song." I look up to her
"My mom used to sing it to me when I was a baby. I think it had words, but I can only remember the tune." She says. Lilian has always wanted to meet her parents, she's talked about it ever since I first got to the institute.
"Lilian, after the war is over, I want to help you find your parents." I tell her
"Silver, I would love to find my parents... But I don't know how they'll feel about having a mutant as a daughter..." She avoids my eyes
"Lilian, they're going to love you, and if they don't, then that's their loss." She nods and hugs me
"Thank you, Silver." She smiles and hugs me. I hug her back, promising to myself that I will find Lilian's parents.
