'Silver's POV'

Khaos sits on my metal bed with his legs crossed. I sit on his lap, my head snuggled into his chest. He pets down my hair, trying to calm me down

"They can't kill her..." I whisper, more tears spilling from my eyes "she's always protected me, ever since I was little... And now I can't protect her..."

"So she's the one who protected you. I'm glad she was there for you..." His voice holds such loneliness. I finally realize how lonely he must have been as a child; no parents, no friends. I want so badly to take all of that loneliness and pain away from him.

I look up and touch his cheek. I lean up and kiss him, slowly closing my eyes. He seems startled at first, but soon begins to kiss me back.

Cole's face pops into my mind, but I push it away. He could never truly love me, I'm a freak. And the only one who could ever love a freak, is another freak.

I pull away slowly, a light pink blush begins to heat my cheeks. He smiles gently at me

"I'm sorry." I whisper, looking away

"It's okay." He whispers, placing his fingers under my chin, forcing me to look at him. He kisses me, his strong arms tightening around my back, bringing me closer to him. I close my eyes and allow myself to melt into the kiss.

When I wake up the next morning, Khaos' smiling face is the first thing that greets me. I lay on his chest, his strong arms wrapped around my back.

Tears sting at the edges of my eyes when I remember what today is. I push my face back into his chest as tears fall down my cheeks

"They're going to kill her..." I whisper. He doesn't say anything, he only pets down my hair.

Our cell door is opened, and Vanessa and Mr. Skies are standing there, smirking at us.

She nods towards us, and white coats rush into the room, handcuffing our hands behind us. I walk with them obediently, so does Khaos.

We're shoved to the ground of a large room. They chain us to the wall. I see chains hanging from the opposite wall, but nothing is hooked to them, yet.

Lilian is shoved into the room and attached to the other set of chains.

"Lilian!" I scream, pulling at the chains. I feel the handcuffs dig into the skin on my wrists as I continue pulling

"Silver..." She lowers her head and I see tears slip off her cheeks and hit the floor

Vanessa, Morgana, Linkin, Maxwell, Christina and Mr. Skies enter the room. They each wear a smirk and a look of pride on their faces

They throw a handgun onto the floor, just out of my reach

"Silver, we've decided to let you choose who kills the lion." Vanessa looks directly into my eyes

"Me. I want to do it." I answer firmly. I have a plan.

Lilian looks at me with wide, scared eyes. I give her a sad look, but nod, letting her know that I have a plan.

Khaos coughs, causing me to look at him. He gives a slight nod. I have a feeling he knows what I'm going to do

"I see, you're more heartless than we'd thought." Linkin grins at me

"Maybe she's finally realized that cooperating with us is the smart thing to do." Morgana says

"Silver, I've been watching you since you were little. I know that you would never kill your friend by choice." Vanessa says, examining me closely

"Well, this really isn't by choice, but I will not let her die by any of your hands. If anyone's going to kill my best friend, it's going to be me." I state, glaring at each of them one at a time

"Unchain her." Mr. Skies says.

"Christopher, I'm needed elsewhere." Vanessa says quietly

"Alright, I'll give you a full report on what happened." She nods and hurries out of the room.

Two white coats use keys to unchain me. I look at Khaos, who is ready to use his claws to unchain himself

I pick up the gun and walk to Lilian

"Lilian, I'm so sorry." I let a tear slip down my cheek as I press the gun to her forehead. She shakes slightly

"Now!" I turn and shoot Mr. Skies straight through the head. I shoot Maxwell and Morgana next, killing them both. Christina and Linkin pull guns out from under their clothes, but Khaos takes Maxwell's gun and shoots them before they can fire at me.

I'm splattered with warm blood, turning parts of my white clothing crimson red

Khaos runs over and uses his nails to unlock Lilian's chains.

"Silver!" She hugs me tightly

"We've got to get going." Khaos says, collecting guns that the 'higher-ups' had hidden under their clothes

We break the door and run down the hall, each holding two handguns. The place seems deserted, but why?

We find two double doors and push them open. There are so many mutations in the room that it would take months to count them all

I look around, there has to be a main control system somewhere. Then I spot it; a big red button on a control system at the other side of the room.

I take a running start and jump into the air, using my wings to propel me upward. As my hand comes into contact with the button, I feel a terrible pain in my right arm.

The cell doors fly open, and thousands of mutants run out

I land clumsily on the ground. Someone shot me in the upper part of my right arm.

"Silver!" Khaos and Lilian run over to me

"Silver, are you okay?!" Lilian touches my arm gently

"I'm fine. Lilian, I need you to take the mutations out of here." I feel blood pouring down my arm

"But, Silver, what about you?" She asks, looking at me

"I'm going after Vanessa. I didn't see Kadence in here, so he must be with her." I look at Khaos when he speaks

"I'm going with you, he's my son too." I nod, I don't have time to argue with either of them

"Stay safe." I hug Lilian with my one good arm

"You too." We take off in opposite directions. All of the mutations follow Lilian, as instructed.

The PA system beeps, signalling a message

"Experiment SVR, to the roof, please."

That's Vanessa's voice!
