Chapter 31: I'll Do It...

'Lilian's POV'

I can't stand to watch this anymore. Every night since Silver went back to the institute, Kadence has cried himself to sleep. I thought that after he'd met Midnight things would get better, but they haven't.

I miss her too, I want to get her back, to save her... I'll do it...

I get out of my sleeping bag and quietly change into a short black skirt with black tights, black boots with no heel and a tight, black long sleeve shirt.

I take a handgun, just incase.

"Where are you going?" I hear Kai's voice from behind me

"I'm going to get Silver." I say, turning to face him

"Lilian-" I cut him off, not in the mood to listen to his argument

"I'm going, Kai. Nothing you say can stop me." He sighs, then smiles and pulls me into his chest

"Stay safe." He presses his lips to mine in a sweet kiss. We part

"I will." I run out of the hideout and and run to the institute.

Kai told me that they'd gotten in from the roof. I climb the latter and search for a tile that I can peel off.

'Silver's POV'

I sit on the floor, leaning against the wall. I'm in to much pain to sleep, I don't even try. My fast healing abilities have served me well during this. Without them, I'm sure I'd be dead by now.

So that's it then... Tomorrow is the day I die...

I see something lurking in the shadows by the door of my cell

"Silver?!" The figure whisper yells. I know that voice. Despite my pain, I rush to the cell door

"Lilian." I'm happy enough to cry. She holds a key up in the air "where'd you get that?" I ask, surprised that she got a key

She doesn't answer, just shakes her head and smiles as if to say "that's not important right now." She pushes the key into the keyhole and turns it, clicking the lock open

I step out the door and hug her tightly, tears threatening to fall from my cheeks

"Thank you..." She pulls away and begins to sneak down the hall from which she came. The PA system comes on with a beep

"Experiment SVR has escaped!"

"Who's SVR?" Lilian asks

"Me. Let's go!" White coats round the corner. She runs ahead. We eventually come to a door, I hear her rattle the doorknob

"It's locked!" I pull her back as one of the white coats shoots. His shot hits the doorknob

"Not anymore!" We run through the door. The white coats follow, not far behind and shooting at us. The only things illuminating our path are the lights from

"Silver, we're going to have to try and loose them in the forest!" She calls, I nod and we make a quick turn for the forest.

Soon, we've reached the forest edge, and run into the cover of the trees.

"Lilian, give me your hand!" She thrusts her hand towards me, and I take it. I fly us above the trees, ignoring the pain that is getting more intense the farther we go.

Once I feel that we're a good distance from the institute and the white coats, I fly down and land on the forest floor. I collapse beside Lilian, my breathing unsteady, my entire body feeling like its on fire

"Silver! What happened?!" She drops to her knees. I lift my shirt and show her the marks, she gasps "where else did they do this?" She asks

"My arms, chest, lower back, legs..." Surprisingly, he didn't seem to want to mark my face, though I don't know why

"Silver, go to sleep, we can stay here tonight." I close my eyes, the burning in my various wounds begins to die down.

I hear Lilian hum a sweet tune. This is another thing she used to do if I couldn't get to sleep as a kid. I open one eye slightly and see Lilian still kneeling beside me, watching as I try to fall asleep and humming the tune she's hummed to me since I was a kid. Lilian's dressed all in black, it's so weird to see, she doesn't usually wear black at all.

I close my eyes again and slowly drift to sleep...
