'Silver's POV'

"Oh Silver~" a voice rings out, waking me from my light sleep. I open my eyes and see Benjamin, along with many guards, positioned outside of the cell.

He smirks, "are you ready to see your son?" I stand up, along with Khaos and Lilian

The guards escort us to an observation room. I think about trying to start a fight, but I know I would only get myself or someone else electrocuted.

"Please let the boy enter," Benjamin's voice rings through the intercom.

Kadence is pushed into the room through a small door-like opening.

"Kadence!" I shout, as the three of us rush over to him

"Mommy, what's going on?! Why can't I hear anything?!" He looks panicked, and his eyes are red and puffy, as if he'd been crying recently.

I look through the glass at Benjamin, "what did you do to him?!" I demand, my gaze deadly

"Well, you see Silver, we could not keep control of his brain because your voice would break him out of the trance, so we took away his sense of sound. He can no longer hear anything," Benjamin smirks as a look of horror takes over my face

Khaos looks enraged, "you bastard!" He runs and smashes his body into the glass, earning himself a shock from his collar. He grunts and his face contorts in pain.

"Mommy, I'm scared," I hear Kadence whisper, making my heart ache

"Me too," he can't hear me when I say this, and that's probably a good thing. I inhale deeply and turn back to my son, who Lilian is cradling in her arms.

"It's going to be okay, Kadence," I try to move my mouth as much as possible so he can make out what I'm saying, and he nods

"I trust you, mommy," his voice is already beginning to sound different, and I wonder how much longer he will even feel comfortable talking out loud

"Aww, how cute. He trusts you, mommy. Though, there's nothing you can do to help him... And you know that, don't you Silver... It haunts you that you can't protect your son-" Lilian cuts him off

"Shut up!" She shouts, standing up and pounding on the glass. I hear her collar beep, and she lets out a long breath, but refuses to show her pain. I know what he says is true, I've known it all along, but it makes it all the more real to hear it spoken out loud.

I see Vanessa press a button, and Kadence screams. He crumples to the ground and curls himself into a ball.

"No! Kadence!" I shout, rushing to his side. I kneel down and hold him in my arms, Khaos kneeling beside me.

"Fight it, Kadence!" He can't hear me. He can see my mouth moving, but he can't hear me.

"Mom, I'm sorry. . ." He lets out a deep breath

His body goes limp and his pupils shrink.

"We've done it!" I hear Vanessa shout, apparently overjoyed that they've ripped my son from my grasp.

I feel terror strike my heart as Kadence stands up, his head twitching slightly.

"Kadence!" I scream, but noting happens

"No," Khaos whispers, sounding defeated

I hear maniacal laughter over the intercom, then, "Kadence, attack,"

His eyes shift from Lilian, to Khaos, and finally land on me.

"Kadence!" I scream again, trying to get through to him, though I know it won't work. I shift into a fighting stance, preparing myself for the inevitable.

He bares his sharp, canine-like teeth, and charges at me. I don't move. I don't attack. I will not hurt my son.

"Silver!" Lilian throws herself in front of me, and Kadence bites into her shoulder, tearing out a large chunk of flesh, and spitting it onto the ground.

They're both knocked to the ground, Lilian's shoulder bleeding furiously.

"Lilian! Why would you do that?!" I scream as Kadence stands up, readying himself again

"Silver, here!" Khaos throws his shirt at me, then restrains Kadence. I use his shirt to put pressure onto Lilian's shoulder. Tears well in my eyes

"Let him go! Turn it off! Give me my son back!" I scream at the glass.

Vanessa smirks, her eyes showing her insanity with pride, "as you wish," she hits another button, and Kadence gasps.

His eyes are back to normal, and he's realized what he'd done. He immediately begins to cry, and wipe at the blood falling from the corners of his mouth.

"Lilian, I'm so sorry," he whispers through his tears

"It's okay, Kadence," she smiles gently at him, and reaches out to touch his hand. He pulls it away before she can and shakes his head

"I don't want to hurt you," she nods, understanding that he's scared.

A commotion breaks out on he other side of the glass, at the same time my earpiece beeps. The voice on the other end sounds panicked.

"Silver, we've been discovered-" it then cuts out.

I look at Khaos, he heard it too, I can tell by the look on his face.

A red light begins to flash in the room

"Lock down, I repeat, lock down! We have discovered intruders!" Shouts a voice over the intercom

Guards rush into the room and force us to our feet. Lilian screams in pain as one guard grabs onto her hurt arm.

"Lilian! Don't touch her!" I begin struggling, but another guard catches my other arm and forces me forward. I keep my eyes on Lilian, and she begins to struggle against her guard. Her collar beeps, and she screams again.

We're thrown into a fully metal, fully enclosed room. I stand up quickly, but Lilian remains on the floor, still recovering from her shock.

I take Khaos' shirt, which was now almost fully covered in blood, and rip off the cleanest strip I can find. I then wrap it around her wound.

"I hope the guys are okay," Khaos says, staring at the door while cradling Kadence in his arms.

Kadence is bawling at this point, and he keeps whispering things like "I'm sorry," and "it's all my fault,"

It breaks my heart, but he couldn't hear me if I tried to calm him down now anyway. I hold Lilian's head in my lap, and she closes her eyes.

"Silver," Khaos' voice brings my attention to him, I see that he'd gotten Kadence to fall asleep, and he's curled up beside Lilian. "If they ever take control of me and make me try to hurt you, I want you to promise that you'll kill me. I don't care how, I just need to know that you'll kill me," I'm shocked when the words leave his mouth

"Khaos... I-I can't do that... I can't kill you..." My voice is weak and cracking

"Silver, please... I don't want to hurt you..." Tears are prominent in his eyes. I shake my head and stand, balling up the rest of Khaos' shirt to put under Lilian's head. I move to sit on Khaos' lap, facing him. I wrap my arms around his strong back.

"I can't kill you, Khaos... You're the father of my child, and the love of my life... I won't be able to do it..." I press my forehead into the top of his shoulder, "please understand," I whisper

He puts his hands on either side of my face, and lifts my face to look at him. He presses his lips gently to mine, then pulls away, "Silver, I love you... That's why I need you to promise me this..." Tears run down my face and I shake my head

I can't do it... I love him...

I take a deep breath and look into his eyes, "okay," as soon as I agree, I regret it, and I desperately want to take it back.

He sighs in relief and wipes the tears from my cheeks with his thumbs. He pulls me close to him and I continue to cry while wrapped in his warm, protective embrace.
