Chapter 50: I Need Her

'Silvers POV'

I scream and fall to the ground. I press a hand to the lower left side of my back, then bring it back into my field of vision. My hand is covered in blood, my blood

Tears stream down my face as I cough up blood. I turn to look at Vanessa, she's on the ground, laying on her stomach. Her right arm is stretched out in my direction and she holds her handgun in her right hand. She used her dying moment to shoot me.

I try to stand, but the pain in my back and my arm are too intense, and I fall to the ground again.

I unfold my wings, only to discover that she hit the bottom of my left wing as well.

I begin flapping my wings, pulling myself off of the ground. I finally find a window, but I've lost too much blood and am too weak to break it.

I hit my fist against the window weakly, barely making a noise.

'Khaos' POV'

We made it safely outside. We've met up with Lilian and the other mutants that we saved. The police, and a few ambulances are also here. The paramedics are treating any of the mutants who were wounded on their way out of the building. We're all a safe distance from the institution.

"Zane, how long does she have?" I ask, turning to the Nindroid. We've already done introductions, of course, their first comment was "I thought you were dead."

"56 seconds." Zane answers

"Daddy, is mommy going to make it out?" Kadence looks up at me

"I hope so..." I answer, looking back at the building.

'Silver's POV'

I hope this works. I shoot my last few bullets at the window in a circle shape. I drop my gun and push my body against the glass.

The bullet holes weakened the glass, and I'm able to force the weakened glass hole out of the window.

I fly out the hole and fly as fast as I can away from the institution. I'll find the others later, right now, I need to get away from this place.

As I think this, I hear a deafeningly loud boom, and feel a strong force pushing me away from the institution. I'm thrown away from the institution, into the forest. I make direct contact with a thick tree trunk.

Luckily, the tree didn't have many branches.

My consciousness is pulled away from me and I'm thrown into darkness.

'Khaos' POV'

"Over there!" The force of the explosion  pushed Silver into the forest, and we're now searching for her. The paramedics are already in the ambulances, ready to take Silver to the hospital.

I spot her and rush over. She's on the ground in front of a large tree trunk. The tree is splattered with what I assume is her blood. The blood is also pooling around her on the ground.

Zane puts his fingers on her neck and puts his ear to her mouth

"She's alive," he confirms. I pick her up carefully, and carry her bridal style to an ambulance.

I hate hospitals. They remind me too much of the horrible place where I grew up.

They've had to take blood from an avian mutation, since any normal human's blood wouldn't match Silver's blood.

The guys said that they'd taken the mutations back to wherever they were hiding out. I've also been told that this war is not over, and that many other counties are still fighting the institutions.

Ninjago is the first city to be rid of those awful people.

I'm sitting patiently in the waiting room, with Lilian, the guys, Silver's aunt and uncle, and a girl that introduced herself as Nya. Kadence is curled up in my lap, every once and a while he'll sniffle or hiccup.

A bearded man who I've been told is Silver's father is talking to a doctor. He told me his name is Wu before the doctors asked to talk to him. I see him walk down the hallway, tears are prominent in his dull blue eyes

I stand up and ask the question that's on everyone's mind

"Is she going to be okay?"

He looks at me, then at Kadence, who is still crying

He shakes his head back and forth "she's in critical condition. They don't know if she's going to live..." Tears run down the elders cheeks

I feel the burn of tears on my own eyes.

"But... She has to live... Mommy has to live!" Kadence begins to bawl again and pushes his face into my chest. I stare at Wu blankly, and when he moves to sit down, the wall that was behind him.

Tears fall down my cheeks as what he'd said sinks in. She can't die... I can't raise Kadence by myself... He needs her...

I need her...

I turn and sit down in my spot.

"Mommy has to live..." Kadence whispers. His ears are laying flat against his head, along with my own and Lilian's. She's bawling as well, from what I can tell, she's unable to stop herself

I don't know what I'm going to do if she dies...
