'Silver's POV'
Khaos and I run up many flights of stairs to get to the roof. I push the heavy metal door open and step onto the flat, gravel roof.
Vanessa smirks at me, eyeing my bloody, shot arm. Kadence is nowhere to be seen.
"Where is he?!" I demand, putting pressure on my arm with my opposite hand to try and stop the bleeding. The loss of blood is beginning to give me a terrible, pounding headache
"You didn't think it would be that easy, did you? He's still in the building, with eighteen bombs..." She cackles
"Tell me where he is, or I'll shoot you." Khaos says, pointing one of his handguns at her head
"You wouldn't want to do that, Khaos. I'm the only one who can defuse the bombs. I'm also the only one who can start the countdown." She holds a remote-like device in her left hand
"Tell me where he is!" I scream
"You want to know? Fine, he's in room 307, you've got ten minutes. Good luck." She presses the button and begins laughing
Khaos and I run back down the stairs, stopping on the third level from the ground.
"307, here it is!" I scream. He shoots the lock, but before we can open the door, I hear someone call my name
"Silver!" I turn and look down the hall
"Guys!" I see the colourful ninja gi's of the guys. They run to me. I feel an arm gently push me behind a strong, muscular back
"Silver, who are these people?" Khaos asks
"These are the people who rescued me from the institution where I grew up." I say, stepping to stand beside him
"Silver!" Cole rushes to hug me. He pulls away slightly to kiss me. Before I can say anything to stop him, he's pulled away from me
"Hey, back off!" Khaos shouts
"What-!?" Cole begins to say something, but I cut him off
"We don't have time for this! There are eighteen bombs in the building, and we don't have much time!" I push the door open and walk inside
"Mommy, daddy!" Kadence jumps into my good arm, and Khaos embraces Kadence and I in his arms
"Thank god you're okay..." A tear runs down my cheek
"I have used my sensors to tap into the timing device on the bombs. We have 7 minutes and 31 seconds to get out of the building." Zane states. Khaos releases me and takes Kadence from my arm
"Let's go!" We run out of the room, but before I start running down the hall with the others, I spot something out of the corner of my eye.
I stop and look at it. Vanessa stands at the end of the hall, her signature smirk plastered across her face
"Silver, let's go!" Khaos pulls my good arm
"You guys go, get out! I'll deal with her." I will not let her live, even if I have to die too.
"Silver, you're hurt-!" Khaos begins to argue, but I cut him off
"Go, get out of the building! I'll be out as soon as I'm finished with her!" He places his free hand on my cheek and presses his lips to mine
"I'll be waiting for you." He believes I can do it, even more than I believe I can do it
I nod and let a tear fall down my cheek.
"I love you mommy." Kadence says, tears running down his cheeks. Even if I die, Kadence will have his father...
"I love you too, Kadence. Now go!" I kiss Kadence on the forehead and wipe the tears from my cheeks
"Silver, you have 4 minutes and 13 seconds left!" Zane calls as they run away from me, down the hall
When I turn back towards Vanessa, she's pointing a handgun at me.
"What a cute display of affection. I didn't know you were so close to our indestructible weapon." She walks slowly towards me
I move to pull my handgun out of the back of my pants
"Move again, and I'll shoot you." She speaks calmly, like we don't have eighteen bombs counting down to detonation around us
"Why are you doing this?" I ask
"Because, if I don't get to live in a perfect world, then I shouldn't live at all, and neither should you." She stops only a few meters in front of me
"You don't get to decide if I live or not, I do!" I use my left arm to pull my gun out of my pants and shoot at her. I hit her in the chest
I begin running down the hall. If I can find a window, I can break it and fly out.
Before I turn a corner, I hear a loud bang and feel a terrible pain in the lower left side of my back, causing me to scream and fall to the ground.
