'Silver's POV'

I try to open my eyes, but after having so many paralyzer darts shot at me, they are unbearably hard to open.

"She's growing stronger," I recognize the voice as Vanessa's, but it sounds so different from how her voice usually sounds. Instead of being cocky, it sounds loving, like a mother who is praising their child.

"Vanessa, she's waking up." I hear the voice of a younger sounding female white coat.

I force my eyes open, and am meted with a blindingly bright light, causing me to squeeze them shut again.

I know I'm strapped to a medical table, I can feel the straps digging into my arms, legs and stomach.

I open my eyes, blinking a few times, letting them adjust to the light. I focus on Vanessa, bandages are wrapped around her neck, probably because I tried to strangle her... Again...

"Silver, you never cease to amaze me." Her voice is so calm, so caring

"Where are Kadence and Khaos?" I ask, my own voice sounds hoarse and dry

"Don't worry about them, they're going through more tests." She dismisses my question.

"Are they using the whistle on them again?!" I demand, her eyes widen slightly

"Well, since you ask, yes, they are. That is how we plan on getting them to cooperate with us." She touches my hair and sighs "I really hope we can come up with something to get you to cooperate. Because, if we don't, the higher-ups are planning on killing you."

I almost laugh, it wouldn't be the first time someone has wanted me dead because I'm uncooperative.

"What about Lilian?"

"Oh yes, the lion. She has proved to be very unsuccessful in her tests. They are deciding if we are going to kill her right now, as a matter of fact."

"No, you can't kill her!" I raise my voice. Vanessa's eyes flicker with excitement

"I think I know how we're going to get you to cooperate."

I think my heart stops beating for a minute as I process what she'd said. They're going to use Lilian to get me to go along with their plan!

"No!" I take a deep breath "I'll cooperate, as long as you leave her alone." She smirks and leaves the room

~~~
I'm in another observation room. There are two blacked-out windows in this one, unlike most of the other observation rooms I've been in. One of the windows covers an entire wall, but the other one only covers the top half of the second wall.
I stand in the corner opposite of the two windows. I hate being in observation rooms. So many awful things have happened to me while in one of these rooms...
"Silver, this is your first test using our new method." Vanessa's voice rings over the speaker and the windows become transparent.
Behind the full window, I see Lilian, covered in electrodes, strapped to a medical table. Behind the half window; white coats, lots of them. Mr. Skies' harsh, grey eyes are focused on me, watching my every move
A mutation is pushed into the room. They've still got mutants?! I thought they killed them all?!
She has scales, like a fish, but only in patches here and there. I can see gills on both sides of her neck, like a fish would have. She's so thin that she looks like a skeleton with some skin and scales thrown onto it.
What do they want me to do? I look at the girl, then at Lilian, then at the white coats.
Vanessa says something to Mr. Skies, he nods and pushes a button. The mutant screams and drops to the floor. I whip around to look at her. She stops, suddenly, and stares at me with her watery, blue eyes
Her pupils grow so small that they're practically nonexistent. She pushes herself off of the ground and takes slow, shaky steps towards me.
I hear Lilian scream and turn my attention to her. They electrocuted her! Why?!
"Fight the mutation, Silver." As Vanessa says this, the mutant jumps at me, her hands finding my throat.
Her impact causes me to fall to the floor, but I easily flip her over, trapping her under me. I hold her hands above her using my own. I hesitate, this girl has done nothing wrong, she's being forced to do this
"Kill her!" Vanessa screeches. Lilian screams again. Without another thought, I break her neck.
My entire body trembles as I stand up. She's another mutant that had died because of me...
The full wall of glass begins to lower. I slowly turn to look at it, and see Lilian running towards me. All of the electrodes have been taken off of her.
My legs give out from under me, and her arms catch me just in time. She sinks to the floor and sits me in her lap, like a mother would do to their child.
"Lilian, I'm so sorry..." My voice is shaky and quiet. She pets my hair, telling me it's okay and that she's fine.
Vanessa walks into the room, along with Mr. Skies and many other armed white coats. Lilian moves to put herself in front of me, protecting me
"Your cooperation was amazing today, Silver. I am sure the higher-ups are very impressed with you." Mr. Skies says, looking pleased
I look at Vanessa, she looks like a mother who's daughter has just been accepted into the worlds best university.
"I'm so proud of you, Silver. Maybe we can finally use you to our advantage." I narrow my eyes at her
"If you think I will ever be on your side, you're wrong. You will never, ever, be able to use me to your advantage." My voice is so full of hate
"Oh, Silver." Mr. Skies sighs and takes out his taser gun.
"No!" I scream as he shoots it, pushing Lilian out of the way and taking the full-force impact of the gun straight to the right side of my ribs.
It knocks me to the floor. I try to inhale, but my lungs burn, refusing to take in the air. They force me to my feet, but I fall back to the ground, desperate for air.
One of them kicks me, knocking any remaining breath out of me.
"Don't hurt her!" I hear the panicked screams of both Lilian and Vanessa. But, Lilian is being forced out of the room, so Vanessa is the one who rushes to my side
"It's okay, just breathe." She says calmly, touching my hair with her fingertips. I cough and wheeze. I don't need her to help me! I swing my left arm, slapping her in the face
"Don't touch me..." I say, between a cough and a wheeze
Her face darkens, and she stands up.
"Taser her again, then take her to her cell." I feel someone shoot another taser at me.
I scream. Did they get more powerful taser guns? Because these things hurt way more than they used to.
I'm forced to my feet. Just when I think I'm about to pass out from lack of air, they throw me to the floor of my cell.
And that's where I lay for a long time, trying desperately not to cry.
