'Silver's POV'

The white coats check my incision once every day, to make sure it's healing well. I let them without a fight, the last thing I want is to get an infection from this.

Khaos and I sit in our cell, like usual

"Silver, Khaos, let's go." Vanessa demands, I assume she's taking is for our, now daily, check-ups. I assume wrong.

She takes us into an observation room. I become immediately panicky, the last time I was in a room like this... I can't finish the thought.

I turn towards the window and see Vanessa and a few white coats standing there with their clipboards

"Silver, Khaos, this is Kadence." A small brunette is pushed into the room

"M-mommy..?.. Daddy...?.." He looks up at us slowly, his eyes are bright blue, just like mine. I peek at his ears and his tail: brown, just like his hair. But, his wings are silver, like mine

"Yes Kadence, we're your parents." I kneel down and he runs into my arms

"Mommy... I'm scared..." He whispers

"I know, but we're here now. We're going to protect you." I stand up with him in my arms... I'm a mother... And my son is going to be forced to live through what both Khaos and I did...

"We'll protect you no matter what, Kadence." Khaos reaches over and ruffles his hair, Kadence smiles

"Thank you daddy,"

In this moment, I felt normal. I felt like we could be a real family...

The thought fades away and reality sets in. No, we can never be a real family, we're mutants. And what about Cole? I thought we had something...

I look up at Khaos, then down at Kadence... My son, I will get him out of here. Even if it's the last thing I do.

"M-mommy..." I look down to Kadence

"Yes?"

"I don't like it here..." He says, tears in his eyes. I move to whisper in his ear

"I'm going to get you out of here, Kadence." He looks back at me with wide, hopeful eyes

"Really mommy?" He asks

"Really." I repeat

We're escorted back to our cage. Kadence is staying with us, since he screamed and bawled when they tried to take him away.

Kadence is asleep on the cold metal bed, the blankets wrapped tightly around his small body

"I want to get him out of here." I state, quietly. Khaos turns to me

"Silver, we can't just-" I cut him off

"He can't live like this Khaos, like we did. He needs a real home." Khaos avoids my eyes, as if contemplating his choices

"Alright, but we need a plan."

For many nights after that we're up planning our escape. The escape will take place tomorrow night... I hope we can pull it off...
