Imagine the couple who had raised her flashed through her mind. They had never once treated her as anything less than their daughter. Yet, the report in her hands was telling her something entirely different.
Tears rolled uncontrollably down her face.
Nuab had already decided that no matter the result, he would be treating Tasleem as his own sister.
However, upon listening to the results announcement by the doctor confirming that the girl in front of him was really his sister, that feeling was really similar to a flower that bloomed overnight, filling the emptiness he had carried for years.
His instincts had been right all along, she was truly his sister. "Tasleem, I am your brother." He could feel both his heart and voice were quivering.
Tasleem was choked with emotions and disbelief that she couldn't even hear him.
No one could understand the life she had endured. When she had been at her lowest, Mamie saved her, giving her a home, warmth, and the love she desperately needed.
At present, she no longer needed anyone's help. In addition, she married someone who cherished and loved her. Hence, Nuab's appearance did not bring joy to her. All she felt was overwhelming sorrow.
The people she had loved and called her parents, were not her biological parents.
Nuab's eyes turned red, he reached for a tissue and gently wiped away her tears that kept rolling down from her eye, "Tasleem, you are no longer alone. You have a family now. Mom missed you so much, let me bring you home..." He said.
Tasleem bit her lip and lowered her head. She did not speak for a long time.
After a while, Tasleem calmed down and raised her head. Her eyes were still red. "Can I be alone for a while?" Her voice barely above a whisper. "I need time to process all of this."
"Of course," he replied softly. "Take all the time you need."
They quietly walked out of the room.
The secretary was the first to break the heavy silence, "Your Highness, congratulations on finding your sister." His voice was filled with genuine excitement.
Nuab turned to him with a smile and gave him a slight nod. Yes... This was a congratulation worth accepting. "Call his majesty." He instructed.
"Right away, your highness." The secretary immediately dialed the king's private number. The phone rang twice before the call was answered. He respectfully handed the phone to Nuab.
The call rang twice before it was connected and the secretary passed the phone to Nuab.
Nuab brought the phone to his ears. "Father, she's the one." He said.
Silence lingered on the other end.
Nearly a minute passed before the king finally spoke. His usual composed voice carried unmistakable relief and pride. "You did well, Nuab. I expect nothing less from my son." The king praised.
A faint smile appeared on Nuab's face. "Thank you, father."
"Bring her home immediately."
"I will." The call ended.

After taking a shower and changing into a fresh set of clothes, Tasleem stepped out of the room.
She found Prince Nuab and his secretary engrossed in a serious discussion. The moment Nuab noticed her, he excused himself and walked over.
"How are you feeling now?" He asked gently.
