Luna said vaguely that she did not know how soon Rita's interview with Harry would appear in The Quibbler, that her father was expecting a lovely long article on recent sightings of Crumple-Horned Snorkacks.
"And, of course, that'll be a very important story, so Harry's might have to wait for the following issue," said Luna.
Y/n didn't care much for when it came out, considering what had happened immediately happened with her now ex-boyfriend. Upon hexing him, she'd walked away, alone, then climbed up the tallest point she could, and threw the emerald locket around her neck as far as she possibly could... strangely, she'd felt lighter.
Of course, Y/n found herself with Monday night detention immediately after Quidditch practice- much to Angelina's dismay- for her 'attack on Angel'... Y/n didn't care.
Tired and wanting to study... or sleep, Y/n trudged back up to the Gryffindor Common Room, with Maia (who'd somehow managed to also get a detention) and Estella (who'd sat outside until it had finished) ... Estella's group of friends had all taken Y/ns side- something she was very grateful for- and the friendship had mostly remained together, barring Kaiden (who'd decided the 'romance drama' was too much for him) and Gaia (who was seemingly just distancing herself for her own reasons).
Y/n returned to the busy Gryffindor common room, strewn with paper and books, and spared a small glance to Harry who was struggling with a new star chart for Astronomy. Since Valentines Day they had entered that weird state between strangers and friends, a new form of civility, which, to some extent, Y/n was thankful for.
"-If Zacharias Smith beats us, I might have to kill myself."
Y/n heard George say tiredly.
"I'll join you." Y/n mumbled, approaching the group with Maia and Estella in tow "If my cheater ex wins, I know the universe is evil."
"Kill him, more like," said Fred firmly.
"That's the trouble with Quidditch," said Hermione absentmindedly, once again bent over her Rune translation, "it creates all this bad feeling and tension between the Houses."
She looked up to find her copy of Spellman's Syllabary and caught Fred, George, and Harry looking at her with expressions of mingled disgust and incredulity on their faces.
"Well, it does!" she said impatiently. "It's only a game, isn't it?"
"Hermione," said Harry, shaking his head, "you're good on feelings and stuff, but you just don't understand about Quidditch."
"Maybe not," she said darkly, returning to her translation again, "but at least my happiness doesn't depend on Ron's goalkeeping ability."
"How was detention?" Fred asked Maia and Y/n tiredly.
"Excellent, Toady can't cut my hands 'cause of my mother, so I just had to write muggle lines." Y/n hummed, showing her ink coated hands, as Maia suddenly jumped and showed, all too gleefully, her blood stained hands.
