The one small break Harry had gotten from the Dursleys during the Summer (before of course the whole Aunt Marge fiasco) was at his best friend Y/n Thorn-Borealis's birthday. He'd been picked up by her and her parents the day before and had been sitting with Y/n in her bedroom having a soft conversation as her pet cat weaved around Harry's legs, Y/ns pet snake wrapping around her wrist when a girl with white hair- of whom could be no older than 11 stormed into her room.

"Godric Elowen! Don't you know how to knock?" Y/n snapped, the white streak in her hair (A feature she seemed to share with her mother) falling over her face.

Elowen Nyx Thorn-Borealis was the youngest Borealis sister, she was 11 years of age and was to start Hogwarts that year, out of all the Borealis sisters, she'd looked the least like Y/n (The most of course had been Elmira, followed by Orchid and Cassiopeia- of whom could change appearance to look like her at will, of course Cassiopeia hadn't done that since before Y/n's 1st year) rather than having the white streak with the H/c hair like all the other sisters, her entire hair was snow white. Elowen had two different coloured eyes, one Emerald green, the other Royal blue. Many people, when seeing her for the first time, thought she'd looked rather strange, however to her sisters, she was perfectly ordinary (albeit a pain in their asses).

"Your friends are loud." Elowen deadpanned, crossing her arms.

"So? How is that my problem?" Y/n asked, raising an eyebrow.

"So, they're your guests, make them shut up." Elowen reasoned.

"No." Y/n stated.

"No? Why not?" Elowen scoffed.

"Don't want to." Y/n shrugged "If they're bothering you so much ask them yourself."

"But they're not my friends." Elowen hissed.

"Then I don't know, ask Crescent to do it, they seem to be terrified of her." Y/n deadpanned.

"I don't want to ask Crescent! She scares me as well." Elowen stated.

"Then I don't know Elowen, suck it up and go somewhere else in the house." Y/n hissed.

"But-"

"Suck it up. And get out of my room!" Y/n interrupted.

"No way! I want to write in the butterfly room, but I can't because your friends are being too loud!" Elowen snapped.

"Get out!" Y/n yelled, throwing a nearby shoe at her sister, narrowly missing her head as a nearby flower vase exploded.

"Fine!" Elowen exclaimed, slamming the door.

Y/n exhaled, leaning her head back.

"Are you... alright?" Harry asked tentatively, looking at the witch beside him.

"I'm fine." She murmured, looking down at her hands, wringing them together as she released a shaky breath "It's just- I don't think I'm ready."

"Ready for what?" Harry questioned, brows furrowing.

"To grow up." She spoke "Harry- after tonight my childhood is over, I'll be a teenager and then what? I have nothing to show for my childhood, except for that stupid scar on my leg from that stupid bathroom."

"Well don't forget the burn scar on your arm from 1st year, or the scar on your stomach from the troll." Harry mentioned "Plus all the internal scars you must have."

"Right yeah, I forgot all about that." Y/n said sarcastically although a small smile grew on her lips.

"Well- you have your friends? And you're a really good one considering you once drank poison to stop me from drinking it." Harry reasoned "I mean what even went through your head to make you do that?"

Y/n shrugged.

"I saw you about to drink it and I recognised it as a poison and I know you Harry, you probably would've drunk it before I could warn you, so I took it and then- I don't know what I was thinking after that... I guess I wanted to prove it was poison." She explained quietly.

The two fell into a silence, not talking for a moment.

"You're a good person Y/n." Harry murmured "You have that to show for your childhood."

Y/n smiled softly.

"You're sweet." She whispered.

The two fell back into a silence gazing into each other's eyes, Y/n gently bit her lip as their hands touched. The silence, however, was broken by the door slamming open.

"Happy Birthday Hat stall!" The voice of Maia Starr, Y/ns best friend since before their first year yelled standing in the doorway.

"Maia, it's not my birthday yet." Y/n said, quickly moving away from Harry.

"On the contrary my dear Hat stall..." Maia began, moving to sit between the two, wrapping an arm around Y/n "It is 11:55, in exactly five minutes you'll be a teenager."

"My point still stands M, it's not my birthday just yet." Y/n retorted.

"Oh pssh, potayto, potahto." Maia scoffed.

"Except just like with our situation only one of those words is correct." Y/n hummed.

"Oh, whatever smartass." Maia hissed lightly slapping Y/ns arm "11:57 now by the way."

Y/n glared at Maia through the corner of her eyes, looking at Harry for help.

"Her logic is sound." Harry spoke leaning forward with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"No, it's not! Don't stick up for her you arse!" Y/n exclaimed.

"Thank-you Harry!" Maia grinned.

"I hate you both." Y/n hissed, standing up "You're both bloody idiots."

"You love us." Maia grinned, a smirk on her face as Y/n suddenly whirled around with a scowl.

"Maia! Keep those thoughts silent, please!" Y/n groaned.

"Don't be mad at the truth." Maia smirked.

Before Y/n could say anything else however, two more figures stood in her doorway.

"Maia, quit bothering Y/n, just tell her the thing and leave her and Harry be." The voice of Sable, Y/ns other best friend spoke, leaning against the doorway, Fawn standing beside her.

"Tell me what?" Y/n asked, furrowing her brows.

"Oh- right! Uh Angel is here and so is your cousin." Maia stated.

"Which one?" Y/n questioned.

"Angel- the one in Hufflepuff, with the brunette hair- kinda long, green eyes, always has food in his pockets, kinda cute- for a guy, in your Herbology class- do you really not know which one im talking about? He's like your-"

Y/n smacked Maia upside the head.

"Obviously I meant the cousin you idiot." Y/n snapped, moving to sit back down beside Harry.

"Oh! Right- the cousin is uh- Maddy." Maia stated.

"Maddy's here?" Y/n asked, straightening up.

"Uh- yeah." Maia answered, "I just said that."

"Bye guys!" Y/n exclaimed, rising to her feet and running out of the room.

Harry smiled softly at the girl as she ran out of the room, pushing past Fawn and Sable.

The three girls still in the room glanced at each other before rushing after Y/n, chorusing a 'Bye Harry!'
