'Before I knew it, it was the final day of the festival. I spent all of the second day helping out the takoyaki booth and the cafe. Only two days has passed since Atobe-senpai's answer but why does it feel like forever for me? Just what am I looking for? Just what am I hoping for? Am I hoping he would change his answer? Why am I clinging onto the wish that the feelings are mutual?' Ranfa was sitting on the bench, deep in thoughts.
"Ranfa, here!" Gakuto returned with Jirou and what looked like a bag of candy floss. They were wearing a rather baggy orange shirt and a pair of blue quarter length blue shorts because the street dance attraction has just finished and now they were taking a break with Ranfa.
"Thank you."
"Ah! Hold it carefully-" Jirou wasn't quick enough to warn Ranfa and she didn't hold it tightly and the bag of fluffy sweetness started to fly up into the air. "Wha?! It's flying away!"
"I got it!" Gakuto jumped up and grabbed the string of the candy floss bag before landing back down again. He returned it with an achieved smile, "Here!"
"They put helium in them? That's kind of cool." Ranfa opened the bag and took out the candy floss, taking little bits of it from the huge chunk before popping them into her mouth.
Gakuto and Jirou were glad to see a smile on her face. They have heard from Shishido that she was crying on the first day of the festival. Gakuto has asked Jirou if he knew anything about it but the magic volley specialist pretended to not know with a smile on his face. All they can do now was to make sure Ranfa doesn't think about anything upsetting on this day because they both care a great deal about her.
"Atobe's Hamlet is about to start, it's the last attraction." Jirou looked at Gakuto with a look of disbelief; why did he bring out Atobe?! Jirou looked at Ranfa to see she looked a bit blank before she smiled a little bit.
"I want to watch it." Her reply came out very simple and there's no trace of sadness within.
'Is it really okay?' Jirou wondered about that but he simply let her be.
Hearing that Ranfa wanted to watch the attraction Atobe will be in made Gakuto a little jealous but he agreed with her anyway.
"Let's nab the best seats!" Gakuto suggested to her...
Ranfa chose to sit on the center of the center row within the audience. She will be able to see the entire set of the play without having to turn her head more to the left or the right. She was also holding a bag of candy floss too, it was like watching a movie for her.
'Why did the others leave? Don't they want to watch the play?' Ranfa was now a little lonely within the audience. 'Ah, it's starting...' She wondered why she came here too. She didn't speak to Atobe since she was given his answer and she didn't speak to him at all during the second day because she would feel down if she's to see him. 'I really am embarrassing...it's not that I can take rejections well, I can just pretend to be fine. As long as I pretend, I can get by...'
'Ranfa?' Atobe thought as he approached the center of the stage for his speech. As he said his speech, his mind focused all on Ranfa. 'Come on, don't look at me like that. You're fine without me because you can do much better. Even without me, there are others who are willing to accept your heart...' He can feel her eyes were on him, the real him, instead of the character he's trying to portray himself as. 'No matter how many times I tell you, you are still looking my way? What a stubborn girl...'
The other members of Hyotei were discussing something important elsewhere.
"Atobe is clearly guilt tripped and since the festival will end on the social dance...it's a great opportunity to express one's love." Oshitari, a romantic enthusiast has an aim and he's not afraid to go for it.
