Gakuto found Ranfa near the pool's building. The area was so quiet that not a person came to interrupt them.
"Why are you here of all places? I was so worried about you when Atobe said you were missing!"
"I know. I just wanted to be alone..."
"Huh?"
"I'm just a little hurt, that's all." He can see the hurt reflected from her eyes. He recognized the pain within the eyes, it's the pain from a broken heart.
"Ranfa..." He remember looking at her with the same eyes when Atobe removed the manager position from Ranfa. He remember how broken his own heart was when he felt she became unreachable for him.
"Sorry, please leave me alone..."
Usually he would listen to her words but this time he openly refused to listen. Grabbing her by the wrist, he made her follow him.
"Gakuto-senpai?"
"Just come with me!" There was a smile on his face as he made her follow him.
"I want to be alone, I don't want to go anywhere-"
"Trust me, Ranfa. I won't let you shed another tear..."
"Senpai..." Has she gotten so predictable that even Gakuto can tell what she planned to do?
Gakuto took her to where the social dance event was. At this event, boys and girls from different school were already paired up and dancing in accordance to the steps. The flame provided a warm orange glow so the couples can look at each other with the given light.
Letting go of her hand, Gakuto stood a few steps from her before holding his left hand out to her.
"Ranfa, shall we dance?"
"You took me here because you want to dance with me?"
"Yeah! It's a social dance, right? We need to be social about this."
"Pfft...haha." Considering she can laugh at the bad puns from Rokkaku's David, Gakuto's joke was passable for a laugh.
However, Gakuto wasn't joking at all and the seriousness on his face really showed how much resolve he has right now.
"Hey! I am being serious and you're laughing at my face?!"
"Sorry, that was so bad that it's funny..." She reached her right hand out and touched the palm of his left hand, "Lead me, Gakuto-senpai..."
Gakuto blushed at the contact, unable to stop the smile surfacing on his face. He intertwined their fingers and he pulled her with him to the invisible dance floor in front of the burning fire. They really stood out because they were not dancing as the steps were instructed and neither of them cared of the look of annoyance from the other dancers because they were dancing in their own rhythm.
"You know there's no such a step, right?" Ranfa's witty remark contrasted her actions; she's following the steps he's making her follow.
"So?" He can tell she was enjoying the dance because there's not a trace of sadness in her eyes anymore. "As long as you're smiling, who cares about the steps?"
Ranfa has only realized she has forgotten about the sadness of the broken heart the moment he pulled her with him and danced. Gakuto was able to draw out the smile that was locked away two days ago with ease.
'Before I knew it, he was able to make me forget about it for a moment... I didn't think it was possible but I feel if I am with Gakuto-senpai, I feel I can smile for real. I don't have to pretend to be happy when I am with him because...because I really am happy when I am with him.' Looking into his indigo colored eyes, she can see the sincerity within them.
"What is it? You're staring at me and you're making me nervous..." Gakuto complained with a light blush.
"Senpai can get nervous too? I always assumed you were the shameless type."
"Shameless? Then am I a bad person in your eyes?" When he looked at her with such a worrisome expression, she couldn't contain her chuckle.
"No, you're not a bad person at all."
"I see..."
"Hey, do you remember what you said to me one time?"
"I say a lot of things to you, you need to nail it down so I can remember."
"The day when you told me to come to you if things don't work out with that person..." Ranfa let go of his hand, no longer dancing with him.
"I remember."
"Is it okay for me to come to you now?"
"Ranfa..." He couldn't believe his own ears, the moment he processed the words in his head. Ranfa took on his offer! Him! She can choose anyone and she chose him!
Ranfa looked a little shy about it but she hugged him. She smiled within the hug when Gakuto hugged her back.
"Thank you, Gakuto-senpai, please take care of me from now on."
"Leave it to me!"
~Extended Ending~
"Haha! I beat you again!" Gakuto was the victor of the little snowboarding competition between him and Ranfa.
They went on a winter trip to Hokkaido and were quick to challenge one another on the snowy mountain.
"Gakuto-senpai, you cheated anyway! You keep distracting me with your flashy flips!"
"Shouldn't stare at your boyfriend for too long!" Gakuto stood the snowboard up, holding it by his side now. He then moved his goggle up so he can look at Ranfa's cute pout without the blueness from the eye gear. "I have a complaint too."
"What?"
"Stop calling me with senpai at the end. Just 'Gakuto' when we are alone."
"It is a sign of respect, Bakahi-senpai. Do you not know Japanese manners?"
"Don't be so rude to your own boyfriend. I just want us to be a lot closer..."
"But it will be weird for me to call you without the 'senpai' bit!"
"Try it out."
"Gakuto.......senpai."
"Oi..."
"No good! It sounds weird!"
"I guess I will have to help you then..." A lightbulb appeared on top of his head and it blessed him with a brilliant idea. "I know, you shall play a punishment game! For every five times you call me 'senpai', you should do something for me!"
"What?!"
"Punishment should be...a kiss!"
"Senpai, you're being so childish."
"Oh! One point already!"
Shit! She didn't mean to let that one slip!
"That one doesn't count! You didn't even announce when it will officially start!"
"It started in my head."
"Damn you, Senpai!"
"Two points! You really want to kiss your boyfriend, huh?"
"Hmph! I don't need to play your childish game just to kiss you..." To prove her point, she held his cheeks and kissed him on the lips without hesitation, knocking his cockiness down into a blushing mess.
"Y-you..." Gakuto cannot stop blushing now when the kiss came to a stop.
"Take that. You're lucky I love you enough to do that." Her grin at him didn't help him stop the blushing at all!
