Zaizen found her by the fountain of the festival. He wondered what made her wander all the way over here but he was glad he found her before any of the Hyotei members did.
"I wanted to see you, Ranfa..."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah..." He started to walk up to her, hands in his pockets.
"Hm? Why do you look like as if you have ran around the place? You're out of breath..."
"What about you? You look like you're thinking about something..."
She was thinking about why was it that when she falls in love, her heart will be broken in the end. She was thinking about maybe she should keep her feelings to herself in order to protect herself.
"I don't know what you are thinking about and I don't want to know..." Before she knew it, she was within his warm embrace.
"H-Hikaru?"
"I don't care if you like the king...give this prince a chance again." He wanted things to go back the way it was, just like in the past where he liked her and she liked him in return.
"Hikaru..." He was very direct in telling her to forget about the one in her heart and to look at him again. She wasn't so sure what she should do since you can't just forget about the current one in your heart right now.
"Does the princess miss the prince?" That movie he watched with her reminded of himself and Ranfa, it was as if the movie was a premonition to tell him to accept that fate does not want them together. Zaizen does not want to accept fate because that will mean he will have to give up on Ranfa, something he wouldn't be able to do until the very end.
"I..." She has forgotten all about him once but she can remember him once again. Can it be a sign for them that there was a chance to return to those days where their feelings were mutual? She remember how she was happy just being by his side and how she used to wish they would stay together for a long time when they were little. "It will be hard for me to forget you again now that you're back in my life." She was hesitant but she hugged him back. She can feel a very comfortable nostalgic warmth from him to her. "You're warm..."
"Let me be the one in your heart again." His words spoke out with promise of unchanging feelings, he wanted the place in her heart that she used to have just for him. "Even if the whole world disappoints you, I will be the one to make you feel happy again." He backed away slightly, hands resting on her shoulders, "Come back to me, Ranfa...to the place where you belong."
From the very start, her heart always had a place to return to. She doesn't need to wish for anything because Zaizen has already granted her wish from the very start.
Ranfa was touched by his unchanging feelings for her and she finally looked his way once again. She has been loved all this time. The feelings Zaizen has for her has never changed and it remained just for her. How can she look away from his true feelings?
"...I'm back." Ranfa made the decision she decided to return Zaizen's feelings.
"Welcome back..." When the firework shot up and exploded into the sky with its beauty, Zaizen kissed her on the lips...
Ranfa cried in the kiss because she felt a place of belonging in Zaizen. She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss because she realized her feelings for him has never died. Zaizen was the first boy she fell in love with and there has always been a place for him in her heart no matter how far apart they ended up.
"It's late but...will you listen to me?" She whispered in a dazed look when they break for air.
"What is it?"
"I love you too..."
"I knew that all along." He kissed her again, ignoring the cheers from his annoying team members...
Extended ending
"Sometimes I have people telling me that they have seen me on your blog..." Ranfa was visiting Zaizen in Osaka for Christmas and she was complaining about how Zaizen will take pictures of her and put them onto his blog for others to admire.
"You look beautiful in all of them so what's the problem? Are you shy?" He looked at her with a smug look and she quickly turned red at the teasing tone of his voice.
"I am not shy!"
"Are you sure?" He noticed her pink scarf was a little loose and he wrapped it properly for her so she wouldn't catch a cold. "There is no use lying to me, you know?"
"...shut up."
"You are cute."
"You're so mean to me."
Zaizen looked up at the night sky, breathing out cold air. "Just two more years before we are high schoolers..."
"I heard from your Mom that you are coming to Tokyo. Where are you going?"
"Do you have a suggestion?" He asked her with a small smile, "I want to hear what you think."
"W-why are you asking me? You should know the answer yourself..." She hugged his arm happily, "I would be happy if I see you in Hyotei..."
"Is that so?"
"Hm."
"Then I better show up and let all the guys know who your prince is." Zaizen then looked at her, "Are you okay being a princess instead of a queen?"
"I'll stay as your princess, Hikaru." She would rather be a princess with an unbroken love than being a queen with a broken heart.
