Over the course of the next two weeks, Jimmy and I spoke constantly, every single day, by texting, phone calls, FaceTime's all of it. I hadn't been lying to Demi when I said I thought I was starting to fall in love with him. It was true, and it was terrifying and amazing and I knew I was. I knew it.
I had planned a trip to go and see Jimmy, he knew about it so it wasn't a surprise to him. He told me he had planned a dinner with the two of us and Nancy, since he had told her about me, and she wanted to meet me too. Which was terrifying, but it was something that needed to be done of course.
Jimmy had told me that she was extremely nice, and was really excited to meet me. There wasn't any sort of animosity between the two of them, which made me happy. But I was worried she would look at me like I was trying to take over or something, which I wasn't. I still hadn't met their daughters, but Jimmy said he had started talking about me to Winnie, she was only a year and a half old, but Jimmy wanted to make sure he was including her in everything, even if she fully didn't understand what he was talking about.
"Happy to be back?" Derek asked me when we were pulling up to Jimmy's building.
I smiled at him from the backseat, "Really happy!"
He laughed and stopped the car, "Here you go!" he said as he opened his door. I opened mine and went to the trunk which he had popped, he took out my luggage and set it down for me, "Do you need me to take it up?"
I shook my head, "No, no, that's fine. Thanks though! I'll see you later, Derek!" I said pulling the handle up and pulling the luggage behind me onto the sidewalk, he went back around to his side and got in, he closed his door and he honked his horn before driving away.
I walked to the door and smiled at the doorman, "Hi, Maggie Atwood," I told him.
He looked over his paper and smiled at me, "Mr. Fallon is expecting you, you know where he is, right?"
I nodded, "I do! Thanks!" I said as he opened the door for me, he nodded in response.
I walked to the elevator and hit the button marked 20, the elevator was painfully slow but it finally reached the floor I wanted. I walked out and went to Jimmy's door; I knocked and waited for him. He opened the door with a huge smile.
"Hey," he breathed out.
"Hi," I said, matching his smile.
He moved out of the way so I could come in with my luggage behind me. He closed and locked the door as I lowered the handle back into my luggage, I turned to face him and saw him staring at me with still a huge smile.
"What?" I asked him, smoothing out the back of my shirt.
He tilted his head and smiled at me, "Did you get more gorgeous?"
I rolled my eyes and slipped out of my flats, "Did you become delusional since the last time I saw you?" I asked smirking.
He took my hand, "You're the most gorgeous woman on this planet, Maggie. People magazine said so last year."
I burst out laughing, "Oh my God, don't remind me, that was so embarrassing!"
He stepped closer to me, and my laughing subsided, "They weren't wrong though," he told me.
I smiled up at him and closed the space between us, "I missed you," I whispered.
He moved his hands to my waist, "I missed you, Maggie," he whispered back to me.
I leaned up and kissed him slowly. He put his hand on the back of my head and deepened the kiss.
"Mmm," I hummed as we broke apart, "I missed that."
