After landing in L.A, Marty met me and took me to the car and he drove me back to my house. The entire ride I could barely look at him, my stomach was in knots. I hated the fact that there was this big of thing on my mind that would affect him.
I had to talk to Allie before bringing it up to Marty and everyone. I needed to know what she thought, how she felt before letting everyone know.
When I got back into my house, I called Allie right away and asked her to stop by if she could. She was over within an hour.
"Hey!" she said when I opened the door. She gave me a quick hug and walked in, I shut the door behind her. For being early afternoon on a Sunday, she was in her usual pantsuit. Today she picked a white one with a light blue top.
"How was your trip?" she asked, as I led her into the living room.
I sat down on the couch and smiled at her, "It was amazing!"
She tucked some of her black hair behind her ear and smiled at me, she put her oversized purse on the floor next to her feet as she sat down with me, "That's great! I'm so happy to hear that!"
I sighed and nodded, "There's something I need to talk to you about," I said slowly.
Her phone beeped, she pulled it out of her purse and quieted it, "What's going on?" she asked, setting the phone beside her.
My stomach started turning. I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I was either going to have Allie still with me and come to New York with me, or we would part ways and she would stay in L.A.
"I-I, um...I'm thinking about moving," I said, trying to hold off for as long as humanely possible.
"And...?" she urged, looking at me confused.
I took a deep breath and nodded once, "I want to move to New York."
She smiled and nodded at me, "Amazing! When are you doing that?" she asked.
My heart began thudding in my chest, and I felt like I was having a panic attack, "Well...I don't know. I'm in the beginning stage."
"Well I think that's amazing! You'll love New York, I mean, I know you're moving there to be closer to Jimmy, which is great! There's so much planning to do, we'll have to call the real estate agent-"
"Wait," I said cutting her off, "Aren't you mad at me? What's going to happen now, Allie? I don't want to lose you as my manager," I cried.
She looked utterly confused, "What are you talking about?"
I sighed and closed my eyes, "I want to move to New York, but you live out here and I don't want someone else as my manager! It's been the two of us since the start!"
"Hey," she said gently, I opened my eyes to look at her, "I'm not going anywhere. Gabe can get a transfer out to New York, and Miles is in University in England. So Miles will go to a different house now when he comes home, it's a shorter flight for him now, he'll probably like that."
"I just don't want to mess things up for people, I don't want to mess up Marty's marriage, or anything like that. Same with Molly and Rory, I can't mess up their lives because I want to do something. I can't be that person," I told her, sniffling.
"Listen, don't cry, Maggie," she told me with a smile, "This is your life. You can do whatever it is that you want to. Technically, you're our boss. You tell us what to do. You want to move? Great! If we can go with you, we will, if someone can't, then that's fine. We'll find someone out there."
I let out a gush of air and allowed the tears to start falling, "Why am I so emotional?" I said throwing my hands up in the air, making Allie laugh.
"You've been this way since day one. Remember when you found out you were nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy's?" she asked, smiling.
I giggled and nodded, wiping at my eyes, "Yeah," I said with a small nod, "I remember that. I was inconsolable for a little while after that."
"This is your life, Maggie. Don't worry about anything else, I'll take care of everything, I'll talk to everyone and I'll let you know what the status is on everybody, okay? I'll get in touch with the real estate agent out here and we'll get a plan together, and then I'll call one in New York, and we'll find something out there for you, too," she said, picking up her phone, and typing quickly, making lists most likely.
"Actually," I said, making her stop and look at me, "I think I'd be moving in with Jimmy," I told her with a small smile.
Her eyes went wide, "Really? Already?"
I laughed and nodded, "Yeah. He asked me yesterday. I mean, I know its fast, and I told him that. And, don't get me wrong, when he asked me I was like, what? It caught me off guard for sure, but it makes sense. Why buy a place out there when we'd be together all of the time?" I asked rhetorically, Allie was smiling so brightly at me, "This is right for me, Allie. I know, it's fucking crazy. But this is what I'm supposed to do. I can feel it in my heart."
"You're glowing right now, do you know that?" Allie asked me.
I shook my head and grinned at her, "You look so happy, Maggie. You haven't looked this happy in a long time. I can tell it's because of Jimmy, and that makes me so happy. You're my client, and I'm on your payroll, but you mean so much more to me than that. You're the closest thing I've ever had to a daughter. You're an amazing person, and you deserve all the happiness in the world.
"Remember when you and your mom first came out here? I was just starting my business, and you were my first client. I signed you on, and everything happened so quickly after that. You helped me reach my goals too, Maggie. I would do anything possible to help you, and if going to New York is something I can help with, I'll do. We have an office out there anyways, we're all good."
I smiled and wiped my eyes again, "Thank-you," I said quietly.
She smiled back at me, "Anything for you, Maggie! Now, I'm gonna go and start taking care of this. I'll call you tonight with an update, okay?" she asked, standing up and picking up her bag.
"Okay," I smiled, standing up and following her to the door.
We hugged each other quickly and she left, I closed the door after her and sighed in relief. I smiled and ran to the living to get my phone; I dialed Jimmy's number and waited for him to answer.
"Hey!" he answered.
"Jimmy!" I yelled happily.
He laughed on the other end, "Maggie! What's up?"
"Ask me again! Ask me what you asked me last night! Ask!" I shouted, bouncing in place.
He chuckled again, "What's going on?"
I giggled, "Humor me, please!"
"Maggie, will you move in with me?" he asked, I could tell he was smiling on the other end.
"Yes!" I shouted.
He chuckled on the other end, "So everything went well then?"
I smiled and collapsed on the couch, "Yes! Jimmy, I'm so excited!"
He sighed, happily, "So am I, Maggie! Gosh, this is so great! When do you think?"
I leaned back on the couch and closed my eyes, "Soon. After the movie is done. Allie said she's gonna talk to a real estate agent soon and get it listed and then we'll see where it goes from there."
"You know what that means now, right?" he asked quietly.
"What?" I asked breathlessly.
"You're stuck with me," he stated simply. I couldn't help the grin that overtook my face.
"And you're stuck with me," I whispered to him.A/N - another filler chapter! But that's okay, yeah? Gotta get this story where I need it to be for everyone!
